I fully believe it as it’s not the first time.

So easy to do given the plethora of equipment from China [or others]. USB with Plug & Play devices have been known for sometime to be susceptible.

One has to question why such exposure took so long if so. Unlikely this is a new tactic and certainly unlikely it has not already been used to mine information.

Somebody needs to cancel the visas of all the Chinese nationals working in tech jobs inside the US (and/or otherwise working for US companies from anywhere) as well.

Of course, I’ve been saying that H1B visas should be revoked for quite a while now...

I remember when we didn’t allow Communists to make anything for our computers, were not allowed super computers, and couldn’t get a rocket off the ground. Then Clintons.

I understand a little bit better now and it makes a little bit more sense. But they’re over play in this in my opinion except for maybe routers. I have a hard time believing that packets of data would not be obvious.

Thank you for the link. I should’ve said that first.

Cisco routers had U.S. government approved back door for years/decade or more. The result was that any security settings you put on a Cisco router to shield it from the network could be overriden from the outside by a specially constructed meesage to the router, bypassing any firewall settings.

A sad fact for anyone trying to NOT buy a system with Chinese components:

Born in the USA: Computer Hardware Made in America

Are there any computer components made in America?

Yes, there are. However, not every part of these components is made in America. Finished components like DRAM and SSDs use domestically-produced NAND wafers. The other parts of the component—circuit boards, controllers, and assembly—are imported from around the globe, mainly China.
