I previously lived in Brentwood, next to Westwood. We’d have immigration rallies at the Westwood Federal Building. Cops would be there and buy hot dogs that cost a quarter, but would give 1$ or 5$ and tell us to keep the change. They loved us. Aliens would stand across the street and throw frozen soda cans at us. They had terrible aim throwing across several lanes of Wilshire Blvd.
They are showing a group of 20-30 security, they are standing back and watching. The plywood wall protecting the Hamas crowd is getting dismantled piece by piece by the counter protesters.
That is campus security. Those are the types of people the left want to replace the police with. Social workers. They have no defenses. No weapons. They were probably there just to monitor the Hamas encampment and save anyone who may have needed to escape or needed medical assistance. Not prepared to deal with a flash mob of counter protesters. They probably expected the encampment to be mostly quiet. But they can’t do anything now, they are way outnumbered and under equipped to deal with this. This situation needs riot police.

Back in the 1990s and early 2000s I went to a couple of Freep events at the federal building. I also went to the counter protest to the “million mom march” when California wanted to create a gun owners registry on that other side of wilshire.

Yep. The counter protesters are methodically dismantling the barricades and the plywood one by one. It will be an open field of tents soon. The tents can be easily stomped on and crushed,but there will be a human barricade on one side at least. They can’t protect all sides. Ideally the police will come in and disperse everyone.
I’m glad they’re dismantling the camp. At least some of the folks and students have some balls.

The small crowd at the beginning looked like college students because very few had masks on. As the numbers grew, it was said there may be some gangs and others since the word got out what was happening and it was being aired live.
There is one counter protester, big guy with a beard and red bandana that has been out front all night, dishing out a few punches.
Actually, the TV station showed the security guards who worked for APEX group...It is a security company which has a contract with UCLA...APEX also works down at Sofi Stadium for football games...
UCLA has a police department...Yes, UCLA officers carry guns...They are peace officers.,.

Yes campus police are armed. Those did not look like LEO. They were all in tan slacks and blue windbreakers, just some kind of “safety monitors” I don’t know if they are sworn LEO or as you said just like the people they have at sporting events and concerts. In any case not equipped for this and vastly outnumbered. My guess is they were told to assemble in one area and provide assistance to anyone who needed to flee to their protection. They could help individuals but don’t look equipped go into the fracas to try to break it up. Not sure if they have arrest powers.
Count on it. During the Vietnam protests buildings were destroyed and bombs were exploded. There will be blood the longer this goes on. My take is that Israel is kicking Hamas butt big time, and the protests are to try to get Israel to back off.

I like how all these protesters are wearing a keffiyeh aka Arab Scarf, getting the crap kicked out of them, when runs out to fight and takes a punch, they appear to be shocked like they did not expect anyone to fight back.
