Yikes
Give grand kids a code word. If they don’t know the code word it’s not them!
OVER the last 6-7 years, I have had over 150 “GRANDMA” Calls.
Very young sounding voices....VERY HISPANIC SOUNDING
CLAIM TO BE ONE OF MY GRANDKIDS-—I NEVER HAD ANY KIDS !!!
When I felt like it, I would string them along with questions.
MOST OF THE TIME, I WOLD SWEAR AT THEM IN LOUD DECIBELS.
Quiet lately. Maybe they are protesting on campuses.
A local elderly woman here was scammed out of $20,000 by the “IRS SCAM”....................
My normally intelligent in-laws were recently scammed out of 50 grand. An email from the “SEC” convinced them their savings were targeted and convinced them to help trap the crooks…..Long story short they put 50 grand in cash and gift cards in a container, left it on their doorstep and a “courier” picked it up.
B’bye money. The reddest of red flags were ignored.
‘grandparents’ scam,’
I’ve had several calls trying this on me. I simply ask for more details and soon they hang up. “What is your age? Where were you born? What is your dad’s father-in-law’s name?”
I have also had the warning calls about police dispatched to my house with warrants for non payment of bills.
The IRS Scam is a doozey.
They threaten you with arrest by Federal Marshals if you don’t pay $10k in 24 hours.................
Good heavens! the Gift Cards should have been a flashing red light!.................
They were convinced they were talking to Rob Bonta on the phone.
If the victims have been irredeemably traumatized, and unless the perps can make full restitution, bilking the elderly should be a capital crime.
NO PUNISHMENT IS TOO HARSH FOR THESE SLIMES...
