A former student of a Missouri boarding school has been identified as the suspect who shot and wounded three Houston police officers after an hours-long standoff Thursday night. Roland Caballero, 31, is in custody after the Thursday night shooting, according to ABC13 and KPRC 2 in Houston. Caballero reportedly was shot in the neck and was taken to the hospital. Two of the three officers had been released from the hospital as of Friday afternoon, according to Houston Police. The third is in stable condition, police said. Newly released FBI documents in the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting paint an even more disturbing portrait of killer Adam Lanza, suggesting his fascination with children verged on the obscene. Connecticut investigators found a file on Lanza’s computer “advocating pedophiles’ rights and the liberation of children,” a recently unsealed document says. They also reportedly found a screenplay about a relationship between an adult male and a young boy. There’s no evidence Lanza, 20, acted on sexual interests in young children before the school massacre, which killed 20 elementary school children and six adults before Lanza killed himself.

MILWAUKEE – A Milwaukee police officer shot and killed an armed suspect Saturday night during a foot chase on the city’s north side, setting off a violent confrontation between police and crowds protesting the shooting. A gas station was set on fire and other businesses also were torched following an hours-long standoff between rioters and police, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported. Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke asked Gov. Scott Walker on Sunday morning for the National Guard to be mobilized, FOX6 reported.

A suspected child molester whose case was recently featured on CNN's The Hunt With John Walsh was killed in a New York City shootout on Monday. Sexual-assault suspect Charles Richard Mozdir exchanged fire with a fugitive task force Monday in Greenwich Village, leaving the suspect dead and two federal marshals and a police detective wounded, authorities said. Please don't flame me for this question. I have shot Glocks on several occasions, and have seen and used the trigger safety. I'm still unclear, however, what this safety is supposed to do. Assuming that its purpose is to prevent accidental discharges, how does this safety do so? If (for example) a branch catches the trigger, wouldn't the Glock discharge regardless of the trigger safety? Thanks.
