NEW YORK — A former federal prosecutor who succeeded Kenneth W. Starr as independent counsel in the Whitewater investigation has been charged with stalking his ex-girlfriend, police said. Robert W. Ray surrendered to police on Thursday. He was given a desk appearance ticket and released, police said. A complaint filed by Ray's ex-girlfriend says he had been e-mailing, calling and visiting her against her wishes after their relationship ended. Ray, 46, is now in private practice at Kelley Drye & Warren LLP. He did not immediately return a message left at his Parsippany, N.J., office on Friday. Listings for...

LITTLE ROCK — The suspension of Bill Clinton's law license entered its final year Wednesday with no word from the ex-president on whether he will seek to have it reinstated — now or ever. On his last full day as president, Clinton agreed to a five-year suspension of his license on the condition that Whitewater prosecutors wouldn't pursue criminal charges for "evasive and misleading answers" Clinton gave under oath about the Monica Lewinsky affair. Under the deal with Special Prosecutor Robert Ray, Clinton had to accept discipline from the Arkansas Supreme Court Committee on Professional Conduct. The panel voted...

WASHINGTON, July 26 — Bill and Hillary Clinton are asking the government to reimburse them for about $3.5 million in legal fees stemming from the independent counsel investigation of the Whitewater land deal, ABCNEWS has learned. The Clintons racked up about $11 million in legal bills for Whitewater and other investigations during their time in the White House. Their legal defense fund paid about $7 million. So, if their request for reimbursement is successful, the Clintons would end up paying very little out of pocket themselves. Under the law, those who are investigated but not indicted have the right to...

WASHINGTON -- The House Judiciary Committee chairman on Wednesday requested a judicial investigation of a federal appeals judge who says he inadvertently leaked information in 2000 that a grand jury had been convened to investigate then-President Clinton. Rep. James Sensenbrenner, R-Wis., requested the investigation of Senior Appeals Judge Richard D. Cudahy, alleging the judge initially sought to hide his role and only acknowledged the leak after facing the threat of an investigation. Sensenbrenner also alleged that the leak prompted "unfair and unjustified attacks" on Independent Counsel Robert Ray that could have influenced the prosecutor's decision not to indict Clinton for...

Don't blame me. I'm just posting the B.S. here. Freep the author at: http://www.theopinion.com/engine/article.asp?id=1254 _______________ BAD WILL HUNTING by Len Hart April 22, 2002 The Republican obsession with Bill Clinton has reached absurd and neurotic proportions. The durability of Bill Clinton as a Republican scapegoat is one of the marvels of our age. Republicans felt acute separation anxiety when Clinton's term ended, but their fears proved groundless: He may have left the White House, but he had not left the front page or the consciousness of those who regarded him as the model of what not to be. Mary McGrory,...

Independent Counsel Robert Ray’s final report says that there was sufficient evidence to establish that some of the statements made by the Clintons were factually inaccurate, but there was not enough to establish beyond reasonable doubt that they "knowingly gave false statements, committed perjury or otherwise obstructed investigations." The accuracy of that has not been questioned by the media, not even by those who, five years ago, were exposing the lies that Bill and Hillary told to conceal their role in the payment of over $700,000 (according to the Government Reform Committee) to Webb Hubbell to buy his silence after...

The prosecutor's final report on Whitewater concluded the Clintons' Arkansas land venture benefited from criminal activity and that the president and first lady gave factually inaccurate testimony, but that there was not enough evidence to prove the former first family engaged in wrongdoing. The Clintons' lawyer called the five-volume report, the product of a $70 million, six-year investigation, "the most expensive exoneration in history." Independent Counsel Robert Ray's report, released Wednesday, said that "some of the statements given by both the President and the First Lady during official investigations were factually inaccurate," but added that there was not enough...

Both started their public careers as prosecutors in the office of then-U.S. Attorney - now 9/11 national hero - former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. But while Giuliani's active support for staunch California conservative Bill Simon was instrumental is giving Simon the momentum he needed to beat former Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan in last month's gubernatorial primary, former Independent Counsel Robert Ray learned yesterday he'll get no such favors. "As of right now, (Giuliani's) staying out of the (N.J.) Republican primary," the ex-mayor's spokeswoman Sunny Mindel told the New York Post. Giuliani's decision not to do for Ray...
