Yes, welcome to Krispy Kreme heaven.

They melt in your mouth, don't they?

This will be one of the companies the Fat Tax Brigade goes after - or the Fat Lawsuit Lawyers go after - but in the meantime, Americans are gobbling down the doughnuts and making quite a few early investors and employees quite wealthy! (no, I wasn't one of these lucky ones!!! Stupid me!!!)

What would our Sundays be like at church without Krispy Kreme doughnuts being sold by the Youth Group?

FWI, do you have your buy one dozen, get one free card???

Hey! NO I DON'T! Must make a note to get such a card! The shop on Person St. in Raleigh (Howlin - have you discovered the Krispy Kreme little shop on the corner of Peace and Person streets?) is a wonderful place to go for the fattest of those fat delicious warm doughnuts - but I usually only am getting a few - not dozens. Yes, the church breakfasts around town would be lost without their Krispy Kremes! Aren't they something gooooooooooood, as Andy would say.

You have not really had Krispy Kreme doughnuts until you have experienced the Hot Doughnuts Now sign.

That's the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

SamAdams, I hope you aren't watching your weight. If you are, you must proceed with extreme caution and restraint.

I grew up in Greensboro North Carolina which is Krispy Kreme country. I remember as a kid every Sunday someone would bring 5 or 6 dozen to church for everyone to inhale before and after services. When I was a teenager my brother used to work 3rd shift and he'd bring a hot dozen home for everyone to wake up to.

The first time I had a "donut"(as opposed to a doughnut) I remember thinking 'What is this, a doughnut shaped cake?'.

And eddie willers is right, the best Krispy Kreme doughnuts are the plain glazed, you may experiment with the other flavors but you'll always come back to the best!

Every couple of years we'll send you Yankees a new treat(we don't want to overload your senses). Next year: apple butter. :-)

But you have to be fair and send something back. We hear good things about something called a "Philly Cheese Steak".

Thanks for all the info. I don't live near Providence, RI but I'm sure they will make it into the Boston area eventually. They are certainly entering a donut-crazed market. Dunkin' Donuts is on virtually every street corner around here. They have them in gas stations, convenience stores, airports and even in some large businesses, where they compete with the cafeteria. There are so many Dunkin' Donuts stores that when we give directions around here, it always involves a DD. As in "Turn left by the Dunkin' Donuts and then go through two sets of lights. When you see the next Dunkin' Donuts, turn right..."

That said, I don't think Krispy Kreme will have any trouble making money here. I predict they will have lines out the door all morning long.

I used to pass the KK on Person St. every day on my detour route to work while they were working on the beltline. There's nothing like a KK glazed doughnut, and you really can't touch one without denting it. They are some kind of good!

Well - just drive on down and stop in for a warm Krispy Kreme doughnut (or 2) and some coffee - and then you can say you've been there, done that, and no more for you! NOT. LOL. Fortunately, I live far enough away from there that the temptation to be anywhere near there subsides without my caving in........but this thread does stir the thoughts of those delightful treats.

wimpycat - if you drove by the Krispy Kreme place - betcha your car just kinda turned in the parking lot and you just couldn't stop it, right?
