Thanks for dropping by. South Dakota used to be called The Proud State, but Missouri wanted to be The Proud State so I think that South Dakota is now known as The Sunshine State. Why can't states just get along? LOL

I think I've had a breakthrough: KEVIN COSTNER IS FOOTING THE BILL FOR HIS BUFFALO; WHILE AMERICANS ARE FOOTING THE BILL TO BE BUFFALOED BY DASCHLE!

My on line search for a picture of a "live" pheasant was in vain. But, this is the Giant Pheasant in Huron, S.D., former hometown of FV. This pleasant pheasant that stands 20' tall and 40' long, used to be cemented onto the roof of an ice cream stand that we liked to visit after we went bowling nearby.

The pheasant has fallen on hard times since we left town though, and wound up atop the roof of a liquor store in town. At least he's still around.

In case you've been wondering about birds lately, let me tell you that tonight I discovered that there are actually "message boards" for bird talk. Do they have disruptors (crows) or is it civilized? Do the posters have lives but even more sad, do the lurkers? LOL

Gee, even this Cement Prairie Dog in Interior, SD is taller than Tommy Daschle, and notice that in comparison, the Prairie Dog actually has a platform.

One of my great grandmas had an encounter on laundry day with Jesse James and his gang. The James Gang rode up the hill near great grandma at the clothesline. It all happened very fast but family lore has it that The James Gang stole my family's plow horses because they'd worn out their current ones!

Great family story. The buffalo pics are beautiful, too. My Dad traveled to SD while they were building Mt. Rushmore. Awesome job.

After reading your comments and seeing the pics, one wonders how the little buffalo chip ...that un-elected potentate of the Senate...come from a rich state with such a noble history. (^:

South Dakota has its suburbs too in the bigger cities. I found a mall and felt like I was back here in Tampa Bay.

There's nothing like South Dakota. But, I miss the water when I go up because I'm used to living by alligators, sting rays, cranes and seagulls; not necessarily in that order.

Whatever you do, do not visit a bird message board. They won't hear a peep out of me. LOL

What water didn't your great granddad like? It rained in SD but not that much. When I lived there, it was a matter of evacuating all of my Barbie dolls to the basement if there was a tornado warning. The hailstorms weren't too scary, kind of exciting and since Dad was in the insurance adjusting business, hailstorms meant more business for him.

Gee, it doesn't even rain in Florida any more. I have a cd of thunderstorms and lightning because I miss hearing the rain.

That prarie dog looks like the endangered yellow bellied S. Dakota prarie dog, indigenous only to the acreage owned by Kevin Costner.

I'm gonna start my owm Environmental group and in the grand tradition call it the Friends of the Yellow Bellied South Dakota Prarie Dog.

The platform it is standing on looks like the one tommy uses to make himself look 5' 2" TALL.

Buffaloed by Daschle

Great line.

For all us 2nd Amendment believers:
