Until late last summer we’ve always had chickens. They may have kept them down.

Fortunately, fire ants are apparently not a kentucky thing, or not much of one. At last according to this:
I think y’all mostly get too cold some winters for them. They don’t like cold weather.
One of our projects this summer is rechickening and building a tractor for them.

Chigger removal by fire ant
It’s apparently a thing.
Read some document from texas dept of ag.
Chiggers tear me up. They dont touch my wife. I have to wear pants and boots in the yard in the summer. She wears sandals.
Ive used sulfur and bug repellent and anything else. Even leaning out of a chair and touching the ground gets chigger bites on my arm.
We have fire ants too. They sting and leave bumps but thats not chigger bad!
Get chickens :)
