Today is Hitler's birthday, and believe it or not some still celebrate it in Germany and Austria.
I'm currently reading this; I highly recommend it.

Both Hitler and Himmler had a soft spot for Islam. Hitler several times fantasized that, if the Saracens had not been stopped at the Battle of Tours, Islam would have spread through the European continent—and that would have been a good thing, since “Jewish Christianity” wouldn’t have gone on to poison Europe. Christianity doted on weakness and suffering, while Islam extolled strength, Hitler believed. Himmler in a January 1944 speech called Islam “a practical and attractive religion for soldiers,” with its promise of paradise and beautiful women for brave martyrs after their death. “This is the kind of language a soldier understands,” Himmler gushed.

Religion was only a vehicle of convenience for him. His preferred religion, because of its capacity for violence, was Islam.

Excellent book. Anything by Paul Johnson is well worth the time.

the appearance of "gangster statesmen" in particular took place in the wake of the disappearance of religion and moral absolutes in public life. And here we are.

Bergoglio has his own soft spot for Islam. Hitler would never hang him if he were still around.

He committed “revolutionary suicide” too, just like that Bernie Sanders supporter outside the NYC courthouse.

There is immense similarity. The decadence of the 20’s could easily be confused as today.
One thing not similar is it in part was the result of WWI.
It left a vacuum that was sought after by communists and fascists.

Another bit of useful reading on how Fascism evolved as a reaction to Bolshevism:

This character is much revered by Putin, btw.
Both disciplines demand absolute authoritarian forms of human organization.

Yes it’s excellent.
It’s too bad Paull Johnson’s history books weren’t made into text books and taught in schools.

I recently finished “Hitler’s First Hundred Days: When Germans Embraced the Third Reich” by Peter Fritzsche. I’m currently reading “The Bunker: The History of the Reich Chancellery Group by James P. O’Donnell.

hitler was NOT on the left! He was a socialist on the left!!!
stupid lefties
To: Rummyfan
Yes, Hitler was a left wing socialist (Nazi stands for National Socialist after all). He was not right wing. Today's national socialists go by name of Black Lives Matter. Same basic ideology; just seeking social justice for a different national group.
