For once I agree with you. The Communist veneer on the traditional Muskovite religion of authoritarian dictatorship is indeed gone. But it has been replaced by Eurasianism. Russky Mir is a real thing, and it would suit the globalist bankers right down to the ground.
This is really a side issue in the context of the essay, but nonetheless I have to vote for the latter explanation. I don't think he's smart enough to pull off the former for long. History is going to see him as a preppy version of Alex Jones.
