rock was dead in the 1980’s, especially compared to the 70’s...

I graduated HS '69, I agree.

WTH? These songs that are listed are not even the best songs by the bands. For example, the best song Guns N’ Roses ever did was “Welcome to the Jungle.“ The best song that Def Leppard ever made was “Rock of Ages.” I can name 5 other AC/DC songs that are better than Hells Bells.

Bon Jovi - Livn on a Prayer, You give Love a Bad Name, Bad Medicine, Wanted Dead or Alive, Blaze of Glory

Whitesnake - Here I Go Again

Def Lepard - Hysteria, Photograph, Love Bites

The Outfield - Your Love

Heart - Alone, Never

Joan Jett - I Love Rock and Roll, Do You Wanna Touch

Quiet Riot - Cum on Feel The Noize

Scorpions - Hurricane, No One Like You

Van Halen - Jump, Panama, Why can’t this be love

AND pretty much everything else already mentioned!

I will take your word for it, and will listen to the album. I have to admit, because of the pop direction Phil Collins seemed to take them, I just never heard much more than what got wide airplay.

The 80's were an absolute haven for great music from all different genres. Whether it was pop, rock, or even new wave, music was progressing by leaps and bounds in terms of new sounds and general hookiness

The 80's was the decline, not progress.

Just Say No! to Guns n Roses. Great guitar band, horrible singer. Where’s Van Halen? You could make a better case for twoo versions of Van Halen than anything from GNR or Crue, and for my money, the best AC/DC is Long way to the top. Who puts bagpipes in Rock n Roll? Only Bon Scott.

Yes - Owner of a Lonely Heart

But “Tempus Fugit” was the best Yes song of the 80s, and if Jon Anderson sang on it instead of Trevor Horn it would have been one of their biggest songs.

Just skip “Please Don’t Ask”, Phil should have left that one on his solo album, although I must say, “Face Value” is darn good.

I’m glad to see you have Stevie Ray Vaughan on that list. The best artist from the 80’s.

I wouldn’t call Rush an 80’s band though. I first saw them in 1974.

And, I wouldn’t give Bruce Springsteen credit for anything.

These lists are so subjective. Everyone who creates one will come up with a totally different list. Some of the songs on this list are nothing all that special. While some really good songs get left out. That REM song is Crap. It does not even remotely belong on such a list.
