2 to 3 thousand feet above them - plenty of vertical separation. You don’t think the Air Force and various defense contractors tell unlearned ATC guys every time they are going to test something? They accept responsibility for separation of aircraft and do their thing.

I don’t think cruise missiles fly much faster than planes and definitely lower. Hyper Sonics would be heated but barely seen. Mach 5+ but I think we are working in the Macho 8-12 area.
