This vortex was man made. I am doubtful that this is a natural protective response to a predator attack. Reindeer cowboys on snow machines got them twisted up like this.

BTW, it is totally safe to do 100%, but it will fill the whole screen (and still not go over ;^))
(some people complain full screen (100%) is too big; but it is still a LOT better than oversizing (off-screen)).

This herd, in Murmansk, was spooked by a veterinarian trying to give them their anthrax vaccinations...
If this had been a herd of muslim reindeer, they'd have just stampeded the veterinarian and his posse.
