Thanks Red Badger.

BTW, “Inca” means “ruler”, it isn’t the name of the tribe or “nation”.

Similar, but apocryphal (and too good not to use) story about “Yucatan.”
It goes that the Spaniards asked the locals what’s the name of the place, and they replied w/ something vaguely sounding like “you ka tann”, which actually meant “you talk funny”.
“you talk funny”.
“I cut out you heart”.....................
Squaw Mountain is availableso is "Mt. McKinley"
or “Spare us a few virgins?”
There’s a good lesson here.
For example, I post with my real name. If someone calls me the wrong name, I could be late for dinner, or miss it entirely and have to eat Crats.

On the contrary, I was speaking for myself 😊. As do, I might add, most people who respond to posts on freerepublic.
“As do, I might add, most people who respond to posts on freerepublic.”
This is an assumption and implies you have self appointed yourself as spokesman and steward for others including me. By what right? How do you know?
“Who cares?” is plural, “I don’t care” is personal. If you don’t care then why go out of your way comment at all? Let alone claim to represent the majority when you have no clue who does or does not care?
And might I add that your assumptions are mistaken, read though the comments. History threads are extremely popular for the FR class clowns who just love to disrupt and discourage any true productive discussion on the topic.
It is a very common colloquialism (‘who cares’). It does not imply stewardship or spokesmanship of the thoughts of others. It is merely an expression to denote my opinion of the seriousness (or lack thereof in this case) of the issue at hand. You seem anal enough to respond ‘Then why say anything if you don’t care’ had I actually said ‘I don’t care’. Though I’m certainly not assuming stewardship of the opinion that you are anal, I cannot discount out of hand that there may be others that share my opinion. Anyway, have a great day 😊.
“I cannot discount out of hand that there may be others that share my opinion.”
Sure there are, but they didn’t go out of their way in an effort to try and devalue or discredit the thread topic and falsely claim no one cares. I do, many others do. So you were wrong with your assumption.
They just moved on and let those who do care carry on as they like without unnecessary efforts to discredit it. Even if they didn’t care they did not try to take it upon themselves to go out of their way to speak for others with a false assumption about common consensus.
Am I being anal about the concept? Sure I am, What is considered a “figure of speech” to some can have more distinction in concept to others. Especially if it is just not true and accurate.
Live and let live... Speak for yourself...
“OR” accurate...
Oh good lord (that is a figure of speech as well, by the way. It in no way implies that I believe everyone believes in the lord and it does not seek to denigrate those who may not, nor to speak for others.). What on earth did I say to ‘discredit’ anything? At least you admitted you’re anal retentive. That’s okay, I am too sometimes 😊. Are your objections to my two word comment ‘Who cares’ rooted in some deep rooted attachment to Machu Picchu that has now been torn asunder with the realization you have been referring to it by the wrong name until now, and are angered that others do not share your outrage?
Just asking for a friend ‘who cares’ 😂
