Sure the discovery is theirs. Government supplied the cash. Scientists contribute the work. Was there a contract that provided for government take over under any circumstance before offering the money? Not likely.
The government heavily funded the creation and advancement of the internet…. Maybe they should lay claim to it?

How so? If FedGov is already funding a bunch of the research, it's not like they'll start losing money, they just won't make as much. If they want to control their own pricing, then let them spend their own money on the research!

Gov did for a while, but then released it to the public. To make that analogy fit, FedGov should take over the drugs and release them to the public (generics). Then prices would come down anyway since they couldn't gouge on prices anymore.

They never owned it…. They funded its development, like countless other projects. They never had a claim to it. Did you like it in 2020 when the federal govt censored truth on the internet bc they had willing accomplices in the industry. Its not that hard to admit the govt should not have this kind of power even if youve butt hurt by big pharma.
