I think it is unlikely Tesla would upgrade their older superchargers. At an 8 stall station, 2 stalls share power. It seems to me the distribution transformer would need to be upgraded as well to bring it line with a V4 station. Musk just fired most of the supercharging division, so there is no one around to to the work if feasible.

Having been too China recently and regularly fast DC is not the most popular way to charge in the urban ecosystem. L2 is. Every apartment block had L2 poles with double cords all along the outer edges of the parking lot. Since most urbanites will only need a charge once every 7 to 10 days once overnight it’s a 7 to one service ratio per spot and 14:1 per pole. A 200-300 mile EV is more than a week of driving in Asian megacities. Fast DC is only needed between cities in 50 mile increments for full penetration I love that term ha. Tesla has already blanketed the interstates with their fast DC at 50 to 100 mile increments that solves that problem. Ultra fast cells are coming there is at least three companies that have 5C cells that can take 1000 to 2000 charges at 5C five times as much at 1C...5C is 400 miles in 12 min for a full sized sedan @ 450kw.

I just covered 1800 miles round trip from TX to MS back to TX avg speed was 65mph outside the cities I run a GPS logger so it’s down to the second position, avg speed, avg moving speed, total time, time stopped, elevation charge and it’s integrated with the vehicles via Bluetooth OBDII so fuel burn rate in GPM, with speed gives instant MPG every second. In my Tesla the native software does all this the Volvo needs aftermarket.

Point is 65 mph real world speed is 6 hours in the seat for 400 miles. A 12 min stop every 6 hours is past most people’s bladder limits, and blood clot develops in as little as 3 hours in a seat for olders..looking at you boomers. So twice what should be driven in one sitting without a break to not get DVT.

I’ve never heard someone mention average speed once they were at top speed and only on the open road part of a trip.

What was your real average speed for the trip?

When I drove 2200 miles from Tacoma to Dallas I took the worst winter route I could find (I like adventure), the one people said not to take, I ran out of gas at 2:00 am in a blizzard in the mountains and had to get some from a snow plow that was clearing the pass, in another state as I was sleeping sitting up the engine almost froze and I could hear the ice mush when I started it just in time and started the trip again, with all that gassing up and eating in the car, sleeping in the car, and dealing with my wife I averaged over 42mph for the trip which I thought was pretty good considering mountains and snow, ice, sleeping, eating, being solo driver, and such.

The question is what was your actual average speed for the entire trip.
