If it is a legitimate denomination...

Islam is not a legitimate "denomination."
It is a false religion - one which enslaves millions.
And, has lead to the murder of thousands of innocent Americans.

A quick Google News search reveals:

Alamoudi, a public backer of Hamas and Hezbollah, was a key figure in establishing the process the American military uses to recruit and train Islamic chaplains. Alamoudi has long associations with the U.S. government. Not long before he embarked on a 1997 tour of Muslim countries as a State Department "goodwill ambassador," Alamoudi told an Islamic audience in Chicago:

"I think if we are outside this country, we can say, 'Oh, Allah, destroy America,' but once we are here, our mission in this country is to change it. There is no way for Muslims to be violent in America, no way. We have other means to do it."

The criteria that the government uses is not "legitimate" in the sense that you and I know it. rather, they are looking at whether the organization represents "adherents" of a religious organization and whether they hae any people in the military. Under the "free exercise" provisions, people that are adherents to a religious group have the right to participate in the religious activities of that group, whether you and I agree with its legitimacy. If this were not the case, the Supreme Court ruled back in the 80's that no one has the right to the "free exercise" of religion if all do not have the right to the "free exercise" of religion. There are many groups represented, even by chaplains, that I had a hard time accepting when I was on active duty as a chaplain: Buddhists, Christian Scientists, Mormons, etc. But, I could not pick and chose who had the right to worship in their own way, and who did not.

Hope that helps a bit.

LOL....I found this on the NY Giant bulletin board but it did not have a URL sourced.

Therefore, when I posted this, I typed in www.unknown.com in the required http: field.

I never thought there would be an actual site by that name!

Retired Chaplains, get a grip!

Are you saying that both youse guys, when still active chaplains, routinely carried hundreds of thousands of dollars to known enemies of our country?

Take some coffee or Viagra or something and reread the article! :)

>>>Alamoudi's lawyer said the remarks were part of a two-hour conversation.

And how is this exculpatory in the least? 2 minutes, 2 hours, what's the difference?

Great banner!

Unfortunately, thanks to Grover Nordquist, in Alamoudi (who works both sides of the aisle) is as tied to the elephant as he is to the donkey. Fortunately, GWB returned his contribution, but then Hillary did too.

This kind of deception is becoming all too common at FR. It's amazing how some FR members can rip others apart for their lack of honesty while lying about the sources of their posts.

Looks like "Seeking the truth" doesn't mind lying if it suits his/her purpose. Their FR name must be an exercise in sarcasm.

What is the www.unknownzone.com URL ???? Your source URL does not go to any news source. I was checking for
photos and other information and my computer jammed up when I followed that link.

>>>Alamoudi's lawyer said the remarks were part of a two-hour conversation

.........She now tells NBC her client doesn't remember ever saying such things.

Hey, if the guy can't even remember saying the stuff about destroying America, what's the big deal?
/sarcasm

At a protest outside the White House in 2000, he did support terrorist groups. On tape, he's heard saying, “Hear that, Bill Clinton. We are all supporters of Hamas. Allah Akbar!”

So far, the criminal case against Alamoudi does not touch on his role in the chaplain program. But the allegations against him intensify concerns about the selection of Muslim chaplains, since Alamoudi served as a consultant to the Pentagon on the program until his recent arrest.

Is anyone going to be held accountable for being asleep at the switch?

Is this another case where a commision writes a scathing report but no head rolls?
