No. You're still just a moron. The context being discussed here was someone who wanted to create a CD that he could use against multiple machines as well as distribute to his users. In such a circumstance, it would make perfect sense to include all 500 patches (plus SP1) on the disk. While each individual patch may not need to be loaded on each individual system, they should all be available on such a disk.
Another problem arises when the user is faced with deciding which of the listed patches has to be applied to their computer. So, as a part of the process of creating the CD, copies of the descriptions of each patch should also be included so you could determine what was needed and what was not. It's a freaking nightmare, but you will gloss over it because it comes from blessed microsoft.
Totally untrue and unnecessary. The patches displayed on the page you referenced are not needed on the vast majority of PCs in existence running Windows XP. That is why they haven't been released through Windows Update as Critical or Recommended updates. Carrying all 500 of them around on a disk and trying to keep that disk updated and cross-referenced would be counterproductive when it is probable that he would never need any of those updates for his purposes. I maintain a corporate network with well over 100 Windows XP machines, of many different levels of hardware, and I've never needed anything more than the standard-fare updates that come as part of the Windows Update process. Thanks to Microsoft, I was even able to set up a series of Software Update Services servers and, using Group Policy, force all my clients to automatically retrieve their updates from my own servers and install them automatically without user intervention.
You're a freaking idiot. You said SP4 in your first post, then come back and claim SP1. Either you can't count, or you're just a sour old fool. Probabaly both.
I think this statement in itself shows that this is the pot calling the kettle black, since it wasn't even me that you had called a moron in the first place. It was Golden Eagle. I was just defending him/her from an unfair slur that really can't be adequately backed up by the facts. Keep your insults straight please.
That's this guy's M-O. Makes things up to slam Microsoft, then gets bent and starts calling names when called on it. What a loser.
Sounds like some kind of Nazi or commie name anyway......zeugma!
Wouldn't surprise me in the least. It is a given that socialists and communists hate US companies like Microsoft, and this guy is fanatical.
BUMP!
Still blathering about I see. If you could actually read for comprehension, you might notice that in my first post, I mentioned both w2k AND Win-XP. You questioned the number, so I sent a link to the one that was still on one of my browser tabs. Learn how to read, troll.
Only to the illiterate. Look it up if you have a decent dictionary.
BUMP
Let's see - zeugma....I see it. Here's a zeugma for you:
You sound like a Nazi AND a Commie!
ping to the thread
Plagiarizing Nixon
Thanks for proving my point. "And" is a conjunction. You completely missed the entire meaning of the word. A goo example of a zeugma would be:
The room was dark, and so was his heart.
In the sentence, the zeugma "dark" modifies both "room" and "heart", but in a completely different way, giving the single word two separate meanings in the sentence.
You also do not appear to have a firm grasp of either the communist or national socialist political/economic philosophies if you are attempting to apply either of those epithets to me, as I am closer to a libertarian in philosophy than anything. Then again, perhaps it was just a display of the depths of your intellectual bankruptcy that rather than attempting to argue issues, you reach for simple labels to hurl at someone.
It just goes to prove, that you don't have to have brains to blindly follow microsoft.
p.s., Zeugma is also the name of an ancient city on the Euphrates river. It was at one time famous for it's position along trade routes in ancient Mesopotamia and for fantastic mosaic tiled artwork. It's now a hundred feet under water beneath a rather large dam.
Just so we're clear here, could you look back through the posts above and identify for me which of us first called the other a name? (If you'd like a hint, check out post number 21. You'll find the answer there.)
Do I really think you're either a commie or a nazi? Not a chance. If you were either, you'd avoid a site like this like the plague. You're probably a decent guy, so I can't understand why your first reaction when someone disagrees with you is to call them a moron. THAT shows the true nature of your personality. All I was doing was returning fire with fire.
We can call a truce now on the name-calling and continue our discussion about the merits of your anti-Microsoft crusade, or we can let our discussion devolve into attacks on each other's character and intellect. It's up to you.
As far as the types of political philosophies that inhabit this site, you'd be suprised sometimes at what some folks at this site will support. There are some die-hard libs that I've been in some rather interesting discussions with.
One of the things I like about FR, is that a lib can actually survive here, as dissent is tolerated much more than on any leftist board I've seen. I don't understand the point of doing nothing but preaching to the choir.
