I believe it is time for Terri to go home to the Lord now. -------- I am so sad to say this, but I can't bear for Terri to go through even more cycles of life and then having her plug pulled. -------- Her poor parents. I can't imagine what they are going through. Man. I only wish I had arms long enough to reach through the internet to their home to hug them. -------- Roy

This is quite a sad Easter. I say the following not to be at all provocative, but the deep sadness and frustration I see in others here on FR and all over the nation, I believe that there will be a less than small number of citizens of this country feeling so desperate at the condition of our nation, a condition well exhibited by this whole evil matter, that they will consider taking their own lives. It's a sad shame, but this past week or so has been debilitating and deeply depressing to so many. I've already seen some daily posters oddly disappear from the site. I had followed their Schiavo threads posts and they were getting desperate about things.

I'm going to hide in my Chopin, Opus 27 No. 2 in D flat major

Greer will be condemned by history in the same category as Blackmun.

I'm beginning to think that most of the legal paperwork prepared by the Schindler's legal team were deficient...

I think you are correct. It's very sad. I can only think there is a larger reason for things to happen this way.

I hope if they decide to do something so stupid (and against the beliefs of all major religions!) they will do it without trying to take others with them.

That is not unusual when the threads are dominated by one very emotional & controversial case. Some people aren't interested in the topics, and others get tired of so much vitriol between people who are normally friends.

I was referring to posters to Terri threads who cared deeply about her ill treatment who seem to have become very disillusioned by Judge Greer and all the insanity.........NOT "others tired of so much vitriol" or those who weren't "interested in the topic".

The posters were just very sad, I learned that from private FReepmail with them.

We can pray for the Republic. I feel we are in a period of great chastisement.

Although we are forgiven even the most scarlet of our sins when we ask this does not mean we are freed of punishment. His justice indeed to be feared by those who don't sincerely repent.

I greatly respect His Justice because I trust deeply in His Mercy and Love.

CNN had a segment on the other day where they talked to several families who'd made a decision to discontinue life support. In at least one case, the wife made the decision against the objection of her husband's parents.

I think it's good that we as a nation are discussing this sort of thing, but it's not by any means the first time this has happened, it is just one of the more public instances.

Surely you've heard of "checks and balances". When the judiciary is wrong, the peoples house and the executive branch can right the wrong. Letting this woman die of starvation is wrong, dead wrong. Surely, you understand this truth.

First, I believe in checks and balances, but I also believe Judge Greer's decision is legally and factually correct. (That's why it's been sustained upon appeal and review 11 times by other courts.)

Second, I think letting Terri die and be released from her pitiable state is the Biblically moral thing to do. (Mt 7:13).

Do you believe that Judge Greer's decision to forbid Mrs. Schiavo sustenance by mouth to be legal? If so, which law specifically are you thinking of that permits this?

It's hard to explain all that now, and considering the Admin Moderator has deleted post # 760 and 769, it would be prudent for us three to quickly move on to other matters.

I will try to make my posts more clear in the future.

I understand that you don't have to be a lawyer to express opinions on orders and you don't even have to play one on TV. But, Judge Greer did not issue any order 'forbid[ing] Mrs. Schiavo sustenance by mouth." He denied a motion for an order entitled by plaintiffs' attorney for "permission to provide Theresa Schiavo food and water by natural means."

First, denial of a request for an order does NOT amount to the issuance of an order for the obverse.

Second, if you read the order, it is clear that the judge denied it solely because the plaintiffs' lawyer repackaged another (then pending) motion using the same papers and just slapped a new title page on it.

But, yes, the order he actually issued is entirely legal.
