As much as a backstabber as McCain was, I still doubt the story is true. I was vehemently NeverTrump during the primaries and I would still NEVER would have listed "Trump is like a evil genocidal dictator" as one of my complaints about him at the time.
Reminds me of the RATS parading out "Bush voters" from 2000 that were supposedly switching en masse to Kerry in 2004, and "lifelong Republicans" in 1964 that were scared to death that Barry Goldwater was "too extreme"

He wasn't so much a backstabber as just a pathologically self-centered nutjob with PTSD. I mean that in the nicest possiible way of course. But your point is well taken, the story could be solid rot, just another way of bashing Donald Trump. I supposed Meghan will comment on it as well, and then we may have the quandary of who we disbelieve the most. :^)

Brother Bill, there’s a difference between being “never trump” and being John McCain. That guy was just plain full of hate.
And also, by the time of the inauguration, the tumor could have been impacting on his brain, so any kind of bizarre or exaggerated behavior may have been a possibility.
Maybe “The Klobs” was exaggerating a bit, sure, but it’s not out of the realm of possibility.
