I was only in the Scouts for about three years, over in Subic as a kid and then when I moved back the US.
I valued that experience highly. I was no great Scout. But they did teach you various things, and it was something that DID allow you to expand your horizons.
Besides, I am one who sees the value in letting boys be boys, with all the good and the bad, because we all have that in us.
There is indeed a benefit to allowing boys to do things without having girls around. It changes the dynamic. And I had (and have) zero problem with girls having their things, doing the things THEY want to do with no boys around.
And back when I was a Scout, there was no undercurrent of homosexual predators. I know they existed, but it wasn’t even on the radar of any kid I knew in Scouting. It is criminal what they did to the Boy Scouts.
Masculinity is definitely something the Left has been trying to rip out of boys and men. I just picked up a book the other day “The War Against Boys” but haven’t begun to read it yet.
Never allow your son to be an altar boy. Never allow your son to be a boy scout. Too many molestation’s for too long.
In January of 2013, in a “Letter to an Eagle Scout,” I responded to the dismay over a proposal by the BSA National Board to remove the membership restriction regarding sexual orientation. In May of that year, the BSA’s national board, under the “leadership” of wealthy corporate types who were completely out of touch with grassroots Scouting values, promoted and implemented a national policy to sponsor homosexuals in Scout troops. It was clear then that the next policy change would be inviting homosexual leaders.

These “Corporate Types”, and “Corporations” behind them, should be sued for billions.
Step 1: Force the Boy Scouts to allow homosexual men to take young boys on overnight camping trips.
Step 2: Homosexual scout leaders engage in pedophelia with young boys ... a "buffet table" of sorts served up by the Left.
Step 3: The parents stupid enough to let their young sons go on overnight camping trips with homosexual scout leaders sue the Boy Scouts for doing what they were ordered to do by judges (some of which are no doubt members of "the club"). Settlements bankrupt the Boy Scouts.
The Democrat/communist/Left's mission is accomplished. Now emboldened, the Democrat/communist/Left moves on to capitalism and the American Republic.

i loved scouting to death even after my son made Eagle, but they were the 1st to go woke thanks to @ssholes Robert Gates and Rex Tillerson by for ing the organization to accept gay scout leaders, or they would cut corporate support (which they should have told them to drop dead). This is after they had paid out millions to previous abuse victims. Then they invited not only gays but trannys and girls. Who the hell wants to be involved in that nightmare? All I know is the same people that think its so unfair for men to compete in womens sports, had not one word to say to defend boys in scouting, especially when girls have their own organization! Baden Powell is a rollin’ in his grave. Sad.
Quite frankly, if parents still allow their sons to be part of the BSA, they are asking for their son to be indoctrinated by the LBGT... community

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints did everything they could to get BSA to avoid this disastrous course of moral surrender, and when those efforts failed, with regret the Church pulled out of BSA entirely, taking with them the single largest membership group of Boy Scouts in BSA.
Robert Gates. He was euthanized Scouting. Nobody was listening to the warnings.
So who got the money?
The BSA brought in these corporate CEOs thinking they would bring lots of money with them. Instead, they destroyed the BSA. As others have mentioned, Trail Life USA is a good alternative.
Nope, the Mormons were a power block and were right in the thick of tearing it down.
Settled lawsuits for the most part. The BSA was selling off a lot of assets to cover the expected settlement.
the leftist demanded that homosexual scouts be allowed, and also homosexual leaders all the while suing the BSA for DECADES before abuse probably by homosexuals.....
either fight the charges or not....you can not have it both ways...
