I think critics ought to acknowledge — but won’t— that Bin Laden was Saudi.
Nonetheless, he was highly motivated by his own perception that the Saudi family was corrupt for its toleration and cooperation with the American government. Of obvious and primary importance was the basing of US troops in Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War of 1991.
Pretending that Bush was ‘covering up’ for the Saudis and that the Saud family was not relatively cooperative with the US government compared to Iran and other supremacist alternatives is disingenuous.
The best thing we had done recently to confound the Saudis was to develop our domestic oil industry. Biden is dismantling that as fast as he can.

Osama bin Laden had been appointed commanderi-in-chief by the Taliban in Afghanistan, before the 9/11 attacks.
As far as I know, Osama did not hold a similar position in Saudi Arabia.

That is EXACTLY what the IG is for. It “investigates” internal malfeasance with the goal of whitewashing serious problems so as to protect those in charge from embarrassing disclosures of incompetence and corruption.
This is just another tool in the Swamp’s defensive arsenal.
