The brain functions based on memorized patterns.

You don’t think out how you are going to move your mouth muscles when you speak.

Pattern 1 - You
Pattern 2 - don’t
....

The same patterning applies to the use of a gun, locking a door, brushing your teeth, etc.

Thugs needs to understand that they shouldn’t press the ‘armed response’ play button of an armed citizen.

There’s video of it all over. He definitely shot him in the back, but that’s what anyone would do if someone was pointing a gun around like he did.

Seen some people on this site basically saying a gentleman would let him shoot you first though.

“You do not go and shoot someone over and over when they are no longer a threat,” said Candace Matthews

Good enough for the police, good enough for me.

“Things looked OK to me until the last second or two.”

All a cop in that situation would have to say is “I thought he was reaching for a weapon” and the last shot would be “justified” too. Even if there was video showing no actual movement at all. Legally, all that matters is the cop’s state of mind.

So if that standard works for the cops, I say it works for the public too.

“a reasonable doubt that the perp was still alive at that point”

The heart might beat on for two minutes.

The brain might function for a bit longer than that.

The accused was probably not a medical doctor and is unfit to decide if somebody is dead.

You deer kickers know the limits of your ammo and shooting ability. And a few of you probably have had more than one gun on you.

RE: Seen some people on this site basically saying a gentleman would let him shoot you first though.

So there still could be 1804 style gentleman duels where someone like Alexander Hamilton “wasted a shot” (later found in a tree in the distance) and let Aaron Burr take his shot and kill him?

And we’d have to find real people like Gregory Peck or Gary Cooper to refrain from shooting the bad guy?

I’m surely no expert but IMO this case,if it goes to trial, will depend on where the trial takes place. If it’s downtown Houston he just might be convicted of something. Anywhere else...probably “not guilty”.

WE were NOT there

YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU WOULD DO IN SAME SITUATION

That is why it is called “MONDAY MORNING QUARTERBACKING”

Video only-—NO AUDIO

No way of knowing if robber was still talking/threatening.

I WOULD NEVER VOTE GUILTY

RE: I’ve thought since I read about it that the only thing they can convict him on is abuse of a corpse.
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Out of curiosity (and binge watching Criminal Minds) I looked up the Texas law

In the spring of 2017, lawmakers approved Senate Bill 524 making the offense of abuse of a corpse a state jail felony, punishable by six months to two years in a state jail facility and up to a $10,000 fine.

He also said the shooter dumped a drink on Washington as he was leaving the restaurant and threw a cup at him. "At the least, it's called abuse of a corpse, that's a misdemeanor crime in Harris County," he said.

LOL! Well, he might be guilty of that.

They would have to prove, he was dead, i.e. corpse, to make that charge stick.

I assume massive numbers of Californians have moved to Houston. Texas should implement a test people have to pass to move there. If your libiot score is above 20%, too bad.

“Accidental disharge” or “I Didn’t mean to” defense works here.

THe guy was going to die. NOBODY was going to help him. He was going to bleed out on the floor and eventually some would call the police. He played a stupid game and won the ultimate stupid prize.

The fact he got mag dumped after he dieded is about “feelings” and not about Reality.

If Criminals realize zero mercy will be shown to them, they may decide to turn their lives around.

The Government sets examples all the time. We all can think of hundreds, if not thousands. Let this robber be an example.

Mag. Not clip. A “clip” is what, for example, is used in the M1 Garand.

I didn’t see the whole thing, so it very well may have.

I’m not trying to advocate for murder. This rampant run
on lawlessness is over the top though.

It may require some laws to be changed to make it easier
to draw down on potential killers.

You go out to take from others pretending to have a gun,
all protections for the perp should simply vaporize.

Not one person in that place had ill will toward this
guy before he entered the place.

He left home traveled there, and planned an evil act.

He’s the instigator and whatever he gets, he’s got it
coming.

If he’s handled and no longer a threat and someone
kills him, then sure. Otherwise he just bought
himself severe trouble.
