After Trump won in 2016, Democrat Underground went into private mode, no public access, for a few weeks. The owners knew if they kept it public the FBI would show up with subpoenas over what was posted there.

Ever notice that no matter what the left says or does, they are the ones with the exclusive right to label others hateful, and they are total hypocrites about it?

”Oh noes, homophobia...”

Back in the 1990’s I looked up the word “homophobe” in the dictionary. I wasn’t surprised to learn that the word only came into existence in the late 1960’s.

Now someone could compare differences with how it describes leftist sites...

Here's what I got concerning democratic underground. Below is my question in the response.

What is Democratic Underground?

Response:
Democratic Underground is a liberal American online forum and community website that was established in 2001. It is a platform that allows users to post articles and comments on a wide range of topics, including politics, news, and current events.

The website is known for its strong support of progressive and liberal views, as well as its criticism of conservative and right-wing positions. Users can create accounts, and the platform has a system of moderators who enforce community guidelines and monitor user behavior.

Democratic Underground has been influential in progressive politics, and has been a place for grassroots organizing, advocacy, and fundraising. While it has a loyal following of liberal users, it has also been criticized for promoting an echo chamber that shuts out opposing views and promotes an overly partisan agenda.

Despite this, Democratic Underground remains a popular destination for those seeking a liberal perspective on current events and political issues, and is an important part of the progressive media ecosystem.

It does not mention the fact that there say extremely hateful things on that website.

First of all it is ChatGPT not ChatGPI. GPT stands for “Generative Pre-training Transformer” which is the name of the model architecture it is trained on.

I just asked ChatGPT about Free Republic and here is what I got back based on the February version. They are updating it at least monthly. In their response they mentioned advertising. I corrected it based on my experience as a user and it acknowledged its error. It makes mistakes based on the way it works and the system has a ways to go yet.

ME: describe the website Free Republic.

ChatGPT: Free Republic is a conservative news and discussion website that was founded in 1996 by Jim Robinson. The website describes itself as a “pro-life, pro-family, pro-traditional values, pro-gun, pro-small government, pro-constitution, pro-liberty” community.

On Free Republic, users can read and comment on articles from a variety of sources, including mainstream news outlets and conservative blogs. The website also has forums where users can discuss a wide range of topics, including politics, religion, and current events. Users can create accounts and participate in discussions, or simply read the articles and comments without creating an account.

Free Republic has gained a reputation for being a platform for conservative and right-wing viewpoints, and some of the discussions can be heated and controversial. The website has been criticized for promoting fake news and conspiracy theories, and some advertisers have pulled their support from the site due to its controversial content.

Overall, Free Republic is a website that caters to a conservative audience and provides a platform for them to discuss and share news and opinions.

ME: Free Republic is supported by donors and does not sponsor ads on its website of which I am aware. Which advertisers are you claiming to have pulled support from Free Republic?

ChatGPT: I apologize for the error in my previous response. Upon further research, it appears that Free Republic does not rely on advertising as a source of revenue, but rather is supported by donations from its users.

I was mistaken in my statement that some advertisers have pulled their support from the site due to its controversial content. As far as I am aware, Free Republic does not have any advertisers to pull support from. I apologize for any confusion my earlier response may have caused.

There is a guy in the Ukraine war threads who posts a meme about exterminating Ukrainians.

Not just taking the side of Russia…but literally exterminating all Ukrainians. Every day. For the past month or so.

Yeah, moderation ain’t what it used to be. But, after the first 30 times, you scroll on and say a prayer for the guy.

Well its good to see that ChatGPT sticks just to objective facts and does not try to express an opinion.

Truth be told, for years I thought much and said little of anything political. But Rush make me realize that to be silent wasn’t really a good plan.
Now i have an active feckit gene, and rarely have a problem giving my unwanted opinions about anything, especially to anyone touting themselves as elite liberal Karens, of any gender.

And while i have a good opinion of myself, it is rare for me to notice that anyone has a different perspective of me. As someone else said first, and often repeated, “It’s none of my business to worry what others think of me.”

And i even tell that to friends, and they laugh and agree.

Here is what I got for:

“Could you give me some information on the website freerepublic.com?”

FreeRepublic.com is a conservative news and discussion forum website founded in 1996. The website describes itself as “the premier online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web.” It allows users to post articles and engage in discussions on a wide range of political and social topics, including news, politics, culture, religion, and more.

FreeRepublic.com is known for its strong conservative and libertarian leanings, with many of its users expressing support for Republican Party policies and politicians. The website is also known for its sometimes controversial content, including conspiracy theories and controversial opinions on topics such as race and immigration.

The site’s slogan is “Where your voice is heard, not filtered.” It allows for anonymous or pseudonymous posting, although registration is required to post articles or comments. The site has faced criticism and controversy over the years, including accusations of promoting fake news and misinformation and allowing hate speech on the platform.

Overall, FreeRepublic.com is a website where individuals with conservative and libertarian viewpoints can engage in discussions and share news and opinions with like-minded individuals. However, like any website, it’s important to be critical of the information and opinions presented and to do your own research to verify the accuracy of any claims made.

I think you are correct. With the aggregation analysis and separation of affects, Freerepublic has echos through the interwebs and it has for a long time.

20 or so years ago if you told me AI was gonna review this website I would call you a conspiracy theory person. 🤔

There is a guy in the Ukraine war threads who posts a meme

His mother should stop feeding him and doing his laundry while he lives in the basement waiting for her to die. His father likely died and life insurance paid off the mortgage.

I did. It gave no such negative comments about DU and barely mentioned that the SPLC labels any group to the right of Stalin a hate group.

I can’t help it if you know nothing about large language models. If there was no highly positive review of FR out there, and you’d be hard-pressed to find one except right here, it isn’t going to be able to use it. As if OpenAI developers know or care about FR...

Large language models are very interesting.

They are great at identifying trends and changes in “tone” and intensity.
