It is a testament to the intrinsically weak Biden foreign policy that the latest set of meetings between Saudi officials and the Mullahs of Tehran was brokered by China’s rulers. China is inserting itself now as a “power broker” at every opportunity a weakened United States offers.

Afghanistan withdrawal was our Suez Canal moment. Change my mind.

I'll try. The Suez Canal crisis occurred following the Wars of English Succession (World Wars I and II), when the United States had already replaced the British Empire as the world's superpower. The War of American Succession (World War III) has not happened yet. For the United States, the Afghanistan War is probably more similar to the Boer Wars, the beginning of the end of the great empire. Our Suez Canal momemt, final capitulation, will come later.
