... and put up a parking lot ...
Another dumb idea built on fake info.
It sounds good to help bees.
But false .
Like the fake idea that possums are good “because they eat ticks “.
Possums actually don’t eat ticks and bees don’t need tall lawn grass.
It takes time, but eliminate your lawn with yard trees, shrubs, perennials, fruit trees, and stone walking paths. One or two stately oaks too. Keeps your outdoors time much cooler and the time you would be spending mowing grass, you end up pulling weeds and drinking beer.
The people in the house next door mow their lawn 3 or 4 times every summer, whether it needs it or not. The illegal aliens across the street are very good about mowing their grass.
Go back to old fashioned push reel mowers for smaller yards.
It’s good exercise that way too many people need and doesn’t pollute the environment.
> Possums actually don’t eat ticks and bees don’t need tall lawn grass. <
Then obviously we need a federal program to teach possums how to eat ticks.
And another one to force bees to live in tall grass.
There’s no problem the gubberment can’t solve.
“Liberals never think ahead. Never. It’s always do what feels good at the moment.”
That’s a very good observation. “Green” energy and “decarbonization” are the perfect examples. Unstable grid with too much power in the daytime and none at night? No dispatchable power because we shut down all the coal and natural gas plants? No secondary distribution system to collect all the distributed solar generation? No mines to produce the minerals needed for “green”? Only enough secondary transformers in your neighborhood to charge three or four EVs?
No problem!! We have magic liberal pixie dust to get us through.
A well-tended lawn has long been a desired thing in our culture; the only surprise is that it has taken them this long to come after it.
>Someone needs to start a rent a sheep program.<
That was done in the Houston area with goats. It worked well until the goats started to go missing. The south of the border crowd really likes goat meat and boy, do we have a south of the border problem in Houston.

Like many good memes, unusable due to a grammatical error, in this case a feral apostrophe.
LOL, well-played!
I use a DeWalt 20V recip saw with a big coarse wood cutting blade for minor trimming work. It’s great for that usage.
When things get serious, out comes the Stihl power head with hedge trimmer attachment, or if it’s really serious, the Stihl chain saw.
And I love the convenience of my Ryobi electric blower for clearing off the deck, patio, and driveway. But when things get serious, out comes the Stihl gas backpack blower.
Choices are good, and so is the right tool for the job.
Yes if I didn’t cut my grass for a month I’d be fined nonsense.
Once again my urge to burn a tire pops up.
>lots of opposition to rescinding it
Much like recycling, which just increases energy use, government operating costs, and road wear for little discernible benefit. People like the virtue signaling over what a rational analysis reveals.
How big is your yard? How long does it take to mow it?
I have a battery powered chainsaw that works well for my limited use. But for someone using a chainsaw all day, it would probably run out of juice.
Mowing lawn - or not - is effectively an externality: an indirect cost or benefit to an uninvolved third party that arises as an effect of another party’s (or parties’) activity.
Air pollution from motor vehicles is one example of an externality, and the whole environmental movement rests on “the need for government to regulate industry to make the air clean.”
The same can be said for mowing lawns. One man’s feast is another man’s famine, an eyesore to some and glorious to others, The pros and cons can be weighed. In the end, if you’re on the side of life and liberty, it’s nobody’s business except that of the property owner.
Sadly, I suspect many people LOVE the municipality or HOA regulations of law care, for either leftist/environmentalist or rightist/”property value” reasons.
Count me out. I’m willing to live with my neighbor’s yard being Type A or slothful if it means the municipality has NO attendant legal tentacles.
Me, either!
I did put down pre-emergents , though.
I actually do mow about every month in the winter, mainly to vacuum up the yard of leaves and whatever than actually mowing.
I use a reel mower (gas powered). I do keep the grass pretty long for Bermuda (about 3 inches) but any longer and it takes two passes.
They even provide them here.
