People hate Trump. First he’s officially a Republican, second he piles it on with his behavior. Democrats specifically, hate Trump. Trump makes it easy. He is no Reagan.

What makes you think Trump is so adored by some majority of people? I don’t want to explain rallies again.

Trump has great scale of love, by some, but he does not have great scope. That includes making most Dems despise him completely, and that means they will vote against him happily. They don’t care if it’s Biden or some other lunkhead, they hate Trump and they’re going to stick it to him.

Try living in liberalland sometime. At least I get more than an echo chamber as a result. Never mind being on FR echo chamber.

Well it would be easy to say Trump is no Reagan. Regardless of meeting him.

Trump took on the Swamp And the military industrial complex. Reagan had a 49 state landslide and could have done a lot more to reduce the size and scope of an ever expanding Federal government. No Reagan was not hated by the Dems like Trump is or by the GOPe for that matter, but Trump has been more bold on exposing what is wrong with our institutions.

DeSantis does not have the personal likability of Reagan or the conviction of Trump. MAGA will never support him because they view him as a backstabbing, disloyal empty suit supported by the GOPe.

The genteel surface of Reagan hid a tough fighter, which is how he so frustrated the media and left, Reagan could reach the public in spite of them and their smears and attacks.

Reagan was a tackle and guard in college football and was a heroic lifeguard on a river, (not a swimming pool), five years an officer in the 1930s horse cavalry which was a rugged life, and 6 times as Union president fighting the communist takeover of Hollywood while having to carry a pistol and testify to congress, governor of California during the 60s and black panthers and the rest, a tough politician that barely missed knocking off the sitting president for the 1976 nomination, a tough president that chewed up Russian leaders one after the other until he broke their empire.

Reagan could be that tough masculine man and do it without losing his Christian positivity and character.

Ben Carson is a GREAT man.

And he is one of the few who remained, amazingly, in Trump’s cabinet. I’ll give Trump that. Carson must’ve had some fealty to him.

My mother and sister knew Dr. Ben Carson, who fixed my nephew’s skull as a baby. He was incredible to them. Not just a doctor, but a humble God-loving man. We also have nursing friend who knew him at Hopkins. She said the same and yet, that he was also the man in control and everyone treated him as the ruling authority, total deference and respect.

I think we’re in the same place with Biden,” DeSantis contended

Too bad Biden isn't going to be the candidate.

Trump didn’t really meet Reagan, he merely had one of those line photos taken with him during a charity event.

Trump never liked Reagan and supported Carter in 1980 with he and his family maxing out donations, although he also gave $1000.00 to the Reagan campaign in 1984 after an earlier donation to the Mondale campaign, Trump never voted for Reagan.

I read the whole article and Governor DeSantis said no such thing.....
Once again a writer has inferred something that he never said and if he’s said it some other time your gonna have to show me when and where.

All good points! Thank you. It’s always helpful to be reminded of President Trump’s accomplishments in office rather than the critics’ endless yapping from the sidelines.

I lost faith in the Bush’s the second Bush (the elder) went back on his “Read my lips... No New Taxes” pledge.

He said some good things, but his whole presidency was about only giving liberals’ half of what they wanted.

I can’t remember one positive thing, and reneging on the tax pledge to give us the biggest tax increase in history - he deserved to lose for that.

Perot may have been a third party spoiler, but he gave us Clinton, who gave us Newt. WHO BALANCE THE BUDGET FOR THE ONLY TIME IN THE LAST 80 YEARS.

And after he helped kill JFK...

You are correct. His rallies are filled with sycophants who hang on every word as if it’s coming from Mt. Olympus. They are Trump’s groupies, but in no way do they represent the majority of American voters.

The rest of the voters are not into cult figures and are not particularly political. They have other interests in life. Trump’s acolytes like Steve Bannon and those morons on Real America’s Voice don’t seem to realize this.

Watch Bannon’s War Room and see the parade of Trump lovers who spend all of their waking moments, apparently, trying to find new ways to insult DeSantis or his wife. One of the worst is that hairy guy with the English accent—Raheem somebody. He’s beside himself with hatred for DeSantis.

It’s all he and Bannon want to talk about—sneering, personal insults; ridicule, name-calling, the venom almost drips from their lips. They insist DeSantis is a loser already and should drop out, that he is, in Bannon’s words, one of the “Keebler Elves.” One of Bannon’s pals, Peter Navarro, even described Casey DeSantis as a shrew.

If DeSantis is so insignificant, why are they almost hysterically spending every day attacking him? What are they afraid of? Why are they using Democrat talking points against him? Is that how Republicans pick candidates?

Yeah, personally, I don’t recall ever seeing Ronald Reagan bent over at the waist, grabbing his ankles...

Please take note of the civility rules as still referred to in the breaking news column.

You keep posting that standard comment. You and another poster just have a one-liner on your clipboard for instant reply, huh?

I’ll say it again. No Trump is not the most accomplished in my lifetime. 4 or 8 years. The man referenced in this report is.

Reagan was absolutely lovable.

DeSantis can be likeable.

Trump is unfortunately hateable.
