Always ask global warmers - “what is your null hypothesis?”

Is it that the planet’s weather patterns and global temperatures are invariant? Do you accept paleoclimatology? Do you realize how much ice there has been, and how it melted enough to raise sea levels >100 meters?

And do you realize that all the documented HUGE changes of the past happened without substantial human activity? And you want to create a crisis over new changes, so far in line with previous, well documented events?

Focus on cold. Let’s live as long as we can without mass die-offs from a return of the ice.

And if people lose their oceanfront mansions? They should have sought elevation, like Obama did on the Vinyard.

It was hotter in the 1930’s.... it’s called weather.

Or like when they whine about retreating glaciers in Alaska.

I would ask, how do you think folks felt when the glaciers were advancing?

I work outside for 8 months a year. I didn’t notice any difference between this July and July of other years. It’s always hot in July. The person who wrote this story must hide inside all day to avoid the heat. He’s probably as white as milk. One to two degrees up or down is not a big deal when you work outside every day.

Nonsense.

Thermometers were not that widespread and accurate as they are today.

Plus putting them in city heat islands skews the results.

Give me global warming. I want lower heating costs and a longer growing season.

We had windows open at night in July this year in Indianapolis. Sorry WaPo go peddle you wares somewhere else. Yes, it was hot in Phoenix a town sitting in the middle of a desert covered with concrete and asphalt. According to maps on Bastardi’s site most of Europe, with the exception of the Mediterranean coast was cooler than normal in July. So where was this heat that caused this devastating 1.5-degree spike? One of my weather blogs twisted themselves in knots trying to explain how this terrible global heatwave was occuring without it being hot over most of the continental US. It was an interesting post to read. One of those don’t believe you lying eyes type.

Talk to China. I’m sure they will get right on it.

China's off limits. China supplies the money for half the mansions in five of the wealthier counties in the country --- those clustered around Washington DC. The effing democrat 'elties' want Americans to do without so they can keep collecting money from the Chinese.

How is 2.7 degrees Fahrenheit hot, Shannon?

I do not understand this hysteria about a hot summer. My experience on the east coast has been that has actually been a quite moderate summer. I have experience much hotter ones.

1980, I’d come in from work and sit in front of the fridge with a wet towel because it was 115. Funny how that “record” is missing from this year’s 106 all time Biblical record.

2011 has also gone missing from the record books. It was so hot and dry Texas towns were out of drinking water and were having to haul in water by rail and were desperate enough to spend tax dollars to call water witchers. Rivers were bone dry (yes, check back on FR) because 1) the heat and drought and 2) all the waters were sent down to the rice fields and never mind all the people losing their businesses and their home wells going dry. The weather forecasters dubbed it “100 days of 100+ temps” but funny how that “record”. Hey, it is summer. It’s supposed to be hot. It’s TX so it’s supposed to be over 100 but we’re at day 20-something for triple digits and that’s a lot less than most years. I’m sitting outside at 11 AM and it’s a slightly warm but nice 92 degrees and 50’ from a very full river full of tourists (grrr) and lawns are being watered so there’s no lack of drinking water. They LIE!

no matter where you get the numbers from....they can only be some kind of average. No result can be “true”.

In the midst of a sweltering summer heat wave, the temperature reached a record-high 113 degrees Fahrenheit in Kansas City on August 14, 1936. These high temperatures in the summer of 1936 remain the most extreme in modern North American history. Compounding the problem, virtually no one had air conditioning in their own homes in the 1930s. The consequence was a nationwide death toll of between 4,500 and 5,000 lives lost, making it among the worst natural disasters in U.S. history. For its part, Kansas City merely coped as best as it could.

Temperatures soared to the 100-degree mark or higher on 53 days that summer

I’m going to assume that Ms Osaka’s family hadn’t immigrated to the US yet. 25-30 year old students don’t have very long memories, for what it’s worth, high temperatures for the next week (August in case someone isn’t aware is a hot month) is 84,78,77,80,76,79, and 81. It hasn’t been over 85 since the last week of July.

Now tell me exactly what you want me to be concerned about.

Nothing. I was just pointing out it is a load of crap. There are some parts of the world that are slightly warmer by a couple of degrees but it is not due to CO2 but to water vapor caused by an undersea volcanic eruption. That temp rise is only temporary. As far as temp rises in US you can't trust any of the data since they include data , that should have been removed from faulty measurement stations

***Airplanes are dropping out of the sky,***

On 9-11 when the government ordered all planes grounded the surface temp of the US actually went up a few degrees.

Exactly correct.

They don't know, but don't comprehend that ice core samples and Dendrochronology (tree-ring studies) will never be accurate-- but only approximations-- to the actual decimal point temperature to modern, scientific thermometers.

Tree rings can be influenced by drought or excessive rainfall, amount of sunny days (say it's sunnier during the day for a couple of years, but not a drought because rain occurs at night), and atmospheric conditions like solar flares and volcanic gases in the stratosphere (but not dust) can alter the chemical isotopes in the ice samples...

Besides that, what should be the average temperature of the Earth? What are they shooting for? The ideal temperature--which just doesn't and will never exist--or in reality, the hatred of other people and having too many of them on the planet?

It's what they really feel and believe (they just don't acknowledge that to themselves). They want a planet devoid of smelly masses of humans, just not them. The elites get to play in the sunny weather like the Eloi of the Time Machine story. Everyone else, gone like Thanos's snap.

Sometimes I think there's too many of us here than there should be ( especially when I see my rural childhood places now part of suburbia), but then I am reminded of the Golden Rule and turn to the reality of I'm no more special than any other person on the whole wide world. If there are too many of us, who has to go but me?
