Naval aviation training, especially, prepares you for rainy and windy days.

Fly into Palm Springs on any summer day. Harrowing. Wind is a factor every day.

"And Megan, if she is a female, what’s her beef, did some woman in the military steal her boyfriend or husband? Or did she feel inadequate compared to a female service member?"

Talk about making shit up.

"Not sure about the environmental effect in the bay, but that pilot will have a highly radioactive personnel folder from now on."

In the Biden Navy, she will be promoted.

Women have been in the military for decades.

Nope. Reread it please, those are NFO wings.

I’d post pics of each of them if I knew how... Lol.
Pilot wings have a single vertical fouled anchor and shield in the middle. NFO wings have a pair of smaller “crossed” anchors and shield in the middle.

I would hate to be the pilot on that crew. Or any of the flying crew. And the poor folks “in the back” must be laughing their asses off.

The P3 aircraft had all kinds of problems in its development. And then yes, somewhere lost cooperation Lee, and very bad weather, doing their mission, in rough places. I would wager that none of them just missed the runway.

Chicago midway is 6500. And rumor has it the weather in Chicago is almost always worse than Hawaii.

So you think she’ll be “... flying a cargo plane full of rubber dog shit out of Hong Kong.”?

I would wager that none of them just missed the runway.

You would lose your bet.

21 October, 2008: "The aircraft overshot the runway at Bagram. The right main landing gear collapsed and both right engines then caught fire. The Bagram Airfield fire department responded immediately and extinguished the fire. The airplane sustained serious structural and fire damage."

“The article failed to mention that the aircraft had an all-female crew.”

Wasn’t that a movie a while back? “I ditched in Kaneohe Bay with an all-girl crew”?

My 3 leg cross-country flight was Brown Field -> 29 Palms -> Yuma -> Brown Field. On the 29 Palms to Yuma leg, there was a very strong down draft. I had some items floating in the cockpit. Even more annoying, I was calling the tower at Yuma to notify them that I was inbound and to arrange a preferred entry to their airspace. The civilian VHF was turned down. They were ignoring me. When I got to their airspace, they finally noticed and got all worked up. They directed me to follow another aircraft to the civilian airstrip pattern. Upon landing, I called my flight instructor and he read them the riot act. It's a dual use airport with a military runway and a civilian one. The air controllers are military. It worked out and I flew back to Brown after a re-fuel.

Whidbey Island has 2- 7,700 foot crosswind runways. I did extensive engineering review of the pavements there back in the 90’s. The EA6 crews took off and landed on half the length of the runways. The old P-3’s used not much more than that.

By comparison, When I worked at Klamath Falls Airport, the Oregon Air Guard used practically every inch of the 10,300 foot runway to conduct F-15 flight ops.
