“Why isn’t this crook in jail?”

i thought the exact same thing when i read the first article posted here about Mayor Tiffany a few days ago:

“Bank threatens to repossess Village of Dolton vehicles due to $76k overdue payment”

https://wgntv.com/dolton/unpaid-loans-could-lead-to-dolton-police-vehicle-repossessions/

DOLTON — Financial turmoil continued to unfold in south suburban Dolton Thursday after a bank said the village failed to make a payment worth tens of thousands of dollars, which may result in police cruisers and other public works vehicles being repossessed.

According to a letter dated Feb. 14, 2024, representatives from KS StateBank are threatening to take possession of more than a dozen village vehicles, which includes six police cruisers, after the village failed to make a payment of more than $76,000 on the vehicles’ loan some nine months ago.

Lawyers for KS StateBank said in the letter, that the village and the bank entered into a Government Obligation Contract in May 2019, when the village financed 13 vehicles, for the principal amount of $332,761.50.

“Due to failure to maintain current payments, the Contract is now in default. As of the date of this letter, the amount past due is $76,138.00 with interest accruing thereon,” the letter stated.

According to the letter, repeated attempts to contact the Village of Dolton have been ignored and promises to pay have been broken.

“Please have the above Collateral ready for a repossession agent to take possession of the vehicles. We will then sell the Collateral and apply the proceeds to the outstanding debt. Please advise immediately where the Collateral is located,” it reads.

Several trustees who spoke with WGN-TV, and Burt Odelson, legislative counsel for the Village of Dolton Board of Trustees, said the payment was authorized by the board in May 2023 and they were not aware it hadn’t been made.

“She can blame whoever she wants, but the board did their job back in May and authorized payment. She’s blocking payment,” said Odelson.

The ‘She’ in question is self-proclaimed Dolton ‘Super Mayor’ Tiffany Henyard.

As questions over unpaid bills have come to light in recent months, WGN Investigates previously uncovered exorbitant spending on lavish trips and experiences by Henyard, which included a trip to Las Vegas that cost more than $12,000 and fell in the same month the loan payment on the village vehicles was due.

“I have never, ever seen the abuse that this mayor is laying on the feet of her citizens, ever,” Odelson said.

The letter received by trustees said to immediately contact Mark Skochdopole, the bank’s vice president of government finance, to make arrangements for payment or surrender collateral.

It does not say when the repossessions could begin or if they would be halted if a payment is received.

WGN-TV reached out to Skochdopole, who declined to comment on the matter.

“They’re coming, it’s just a matter of time,” Odelson said.

Village of Dolton trustees have gone head-to-head with Henyard at village meetings, calling for transparency, so residents know where taxpayer dollars are going.

“The residents of Dolton deserve to know how the money is being spent,” trustee Brittney Norwood told WGN-TV Thursday.

The board of trustees is in charge of overseeing finances, but some said Henyard has restricted them from access to village financial records, leaving them mostly in the dark.

On top of that, several trustees told WGN News Thursday they recently heard from several vendors who claimed they were hired by the mayor for work and never paid for their services. The village is in millions in debt, and did not approve of those expenses, Norwood told WGN.

“There’s no accountability,” Odelson said.

According to the village’s website, the next board meeting will be held on March 6.

“There’s no accountability,” Odelson said.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Therein lies the problem. She should be arrested and charged with embezzlement at the very least.
I have a difficult time believing this isn’t in court already.
Our Mayor in Ft. Walton Beach is essentially a figurehead, ceremonial post. Ribbon cuttings, Festival presiding and parades at Christmas and Veterans Day. The City Council and City Manager run the everyday duties of the city. The only time the ‘Mayor’ get involved is when there is a tie vote on some issue before the council and the mayor gets to break the tie. It seems to me that Dolton, Illinois would greatly benefit from this system as well................
A ‘charity’ that has not reported its earnings nor the salaries of its officers to the state as required by law.
This woman is going to be in deep doo-doo very quickly.................
overall, the city manager system is superior to the system in which a strong major is the head of the municipal government .... a city manager is responsible to the entire elected municipal board, and there’s often even a city attorney that also reports directly to the municipal board, so that there are some checks and balances ...
when a strong mayor is the head of the municipal government, the town board has little control over the operation of the municipal government, and it’s way too easy for the singular elected strong mayor to become completely corrupt and very little can be done until the next election, and even then patronage corruption can assure re-election ... with a city manager system, at least half the town board would have to be corrupted ...
how about shutting down the FIBs. Just move them to new offices in Nome, AK. desk, cot, land phone, no internet in a quonset hut.
MY GOD...THEY ALL HAVE THE SAME FACE.
Why don’t they TRY TO THINK FOR THEMSELVES.
Aspire to be different.
Like that little girl in Baltimore, Kim, who really cares about her community.
Calif. Gov Newsom extorts schools to buy his wife’s sex book for children or else they do not get the state money for everything else. He has cheated on 2 wives. Stolen $1.6 billion in April 2020 saying it was for masks made by a BUS company in communist China. No masks ever showed up. It was his buy in for president.
Do-good Dem Cali Gov Newsom sent China $1.6 billion tax dollars in April 2020.....ostensibly to buy “masks”.... (laughingly made by a BUS company in communist China). No masks ever showed up.
That was later outed as China fronting another Democrat money-laundering scheme. China took a cut of the $1.6 billion; the rest was deposited in an offshore numbered account for Newsome’s use later in his grab for the presidency.
