It hit all at once, did it? That’s some pretty stout wind too!
Wish we could be so lucky. It’s been blowing pretty hard for the past three days now and will probably be a little worse tomorrow, especially with some of the storms. As of this evening’s forecast, it looks like I’ll have some “fun” right around suppertime.
Man, it’s going to drive me nuts seeing the back yard like it is. It’s awful. LOL I should have just stopped with the front yard.
Yeah, I had heard from watching HurricaneTrack that y’all had an “enhanced chance” of tornadoes and other storms in the next day or so. I hope they’re wrong about that! Ugh
It has to do with the timing. Up through yesterday, they thought the front would come through a little earlier in the day and we were under a level 2 severe weather threat. But by the 4:00 news this morning, they expect it to come through later - - during the heat of the afternoon. Now we’re in level 3.
Could be a “fun” day here. :(
I don’t think it sounds like that much “fun”....unless you can meet up with one of the chasers. LOL! Otherwise, I hope you have a safe place, just in case.
I’m not looking forward to it. They’re predicting the whole enchilada - tornados, hail, damaging winds .....
The winds are what worry me most, with all the old trees on the farm. I was lucky last year that nothing really big came down but luck only lasts so long.
As long as the roof isn’t ripped off the house, I’ll be safe. No trees close to the house to crash down on it. But it’ll be really nice if everything is still in one piece this time tomorrow night.
I’m sure the house is very sturdy, but all bets are off if a tornado comes too close. I HOPE we won’t have to worry about that happening. Do you have a cellar or something just in case? Or an inside hallway or bathroom?
It’s going to get down to the high 40s tonight. That’s about 35 degrees cooler than the high early this afternoon. Shaking my head.....
PS...and it’s now calm out there. Much nicer than it was an hour ago. Yay!
No cellar but there’s a hall in the center.
There’s one good thing about the location of the farm. The lake on the west side. Every tornado that’s come through has bounced over that and was dropping down as it passed overhead. They touch down again about a half mile to the east. There’s still the straight-line wind that does plenty of damage but the most that has done to the house is peel off a sheet or two of tin. It’s toppled more than one large tree, though, and that’s my concern. I don’t have Hubby anymore to deal with those.
That’s a pretty big drop. Our high tomorrow will be in the upper 70s, they say, and tomorrow night’s low will be mid 40s. Then we have some nights with lows in the 30s, with a chance of frost this weekend. That stinks because the dogwoods are just starting to bloom. Those tender new blossoms will take a hard hit. :-(
Yay for calm! It’s supposed to stay breezy here on the backside of the front. :-(
I was relieved not to have to brace myself going out a bit ago. LOL!
I sure don’t think either of us want any of those 30s now! I hope it doesn’t make it so you can enjoy your dogwood blossoms. They’re always so beautiful this time of year. I remember them growing wild in Georgia when we were there.
That’s easy to understand. Not fun when the temp drops and the wind’s kicked up. BRRRRRRRRRR Your kitties probably appreciate it!
Nope. It’s time for no more 30s!! My pretty little red dogwood is loaded with buds and I noticed a few are opening when I mowed this afternoon. The weeping cherry is also loaded this year and a few blossoms are open. It didn’t bloom last year.
Terrible timing for frost.
No they weren’t very happy this afternoon when the wind was so wild. And their water dishes were sooo full of dirt from all that was in the air.
I really hope your little trees that are blooming don’t get ruined by a freeze. Enough already!
With wind like you had, it’s no surprise the kitties were unhappy. That was some rough wind! At least their water dish won’t keep filling up with dirt now.
It’s still pretty breezy here now, and warm. Just came in from the garage where I used the big air compressor to blow the grass and other mowing trash off Champ. It was too damp to do it when I parked it out there when it started raining. That garage is a good distance from the house.
Ah, so Champ is ready for round two in the back yard! Good deal.
I think I’m going to head out earlier tonight. I didn’t get much of a nap. The sound of the wind was preventing my relaxation. See ya tomorrow!
As ready as can be. There’s still some grass stuck but most is gone. I just have to wait for the grass to get good and dry before I finish. I’m still mad. It only rained a few minutes. By the time I got the garage closed up and got back to the house, it had almost stopped.
When I went to the garage a little while ago, I groaned when the headlights went across the yard. It looks ridiculous. The front yard looks great at least. LOL
Get some good sleep tonight. Catch ya tomorrow for the quiz.
