Think about the way a cop handles disputes among neighbors. They don’t care about what’s fair, who’s right, what’s at stake, they just want the fight to stop. How do they do that? If one party is insane and the other party is sane, they tell the sane guy if he doesn’t stop the fight right this instant they’ll arrest him. Why? Because the sane guy doesn’t want to be arrested.
