More wishful thinking from Newsweek.
NEWSWEEK is working overtime to create totally FALSE headlines.
#1, 16% is not huge. #2, Last I saw, Biden had 16% voting other.
As of yesterday, there are 3.5 million Republicans in Pennsylvania vs 3.9 million Dems. I am surprised that there are only 11% unenrolleds and even less in other parties.
There are 743,900 inactive registrations.
If you just look at the active registrations
Dems 3,528,279
Reps 3,289,628
Oth 1,158,510
Tot 7,976,417
The difference is 238,651
They have virtually the same new registrations since January 1. 42,751 Dems; 42,726 Reps
This whole article is based on a low turnout which was probably because Trump has clinched the nomination.
Getting 83.5% of the vote is a “huge vote against him”? See Tagline for context.
Once again this points to Haley being chosen as his VP. MAGA will do whatever Trump says. Whatever. Trump just wants to win and that is his best chance.
Predictable.
I knew some media liars would write this last night.
Do they require proof that you are a registered Republican or Democrat?
I am inclined to doubt that.
Here in Washington state, there is no verification of party status.
Instead, our primary vote is restricted to just one candidate, whose name is listed under just one party.
I am a registered Republican, but Washington state mails the same ballot to every voter.
I voted for Trump, but I could have voted for Joe Biden if I wanted to.
I cannot recall if we had just two political party choices, or more.
Even though Haley suspended her campaign in early March, her name was still on the ballots in PA. There was plenty of time to print ballots without Haley’s name on it, but nobody put in the work to do it, probably for just this reason.
(meanwhile Dean Phillips getting nearly 7% of the votes despite nobody knowing who he is doesn’t get even a small mention)
If that doesn’t give you a hint of the upward battle Trump is going to face trying to win PA, nothing will.
and how many voted AGAINST Biden
The problem will be getting the Never Trumpers and RINOs to vote for Trump. If they care anything about this Country they must hold their noses and vote for him. How many times have we done the same for their candidates. If Biden wins another term this country is finished. They will certainly get a Supreme Court majority. There goes the 1st and 2nd amendments. Hello Green New deal.
Nikki: “So there’s still a chance??”
The former president won the primary race in the key swing state with 83.5 percent of the vote, amounting to more than 786,000 votes.
Aside from the hyperbole here, the real problem is Nikki Haley pulling in about the same percentages as Ross Perot did. That should concern us all.
Pennsylvania Ping!
Please ping me with articles of interest.
FReepmail me to be added to the list.
Newsweak is really scraping the bottom of the barrel with this lame hit piece.
Trump continued his dominance in the GOP primary with a resounding victory in Pennsylvania, one of the states which could ultimately decide who wins the 2024 election. While Trump still won more than 83 percent of the vote, Haley, seen as a more moderate Republican candidate who was also to sweep up the so-called "Never Trump" brigade, appears to still be causing problems for the former president's campaign despite no longer officially being in the race.
The headline is very misleading.
