Russias economy is not isolated. Thats total nonsense. They don’t have a debt based economy. They dont have a “FIRE” based economy and so do not have the same needs as the U.S and Europe. The world needs their resources. That isn’t going to change unless their is a major technological breakthrough and the immediate will to implement the new findings. Unlikely at best.

When you seize Russian assets and companies, what do you expect?

I don’t think this really matters much. Commercial ties between Russia and the West are shattered. They’re not coming back anytime soon. I don’t think either side trusts the other or will be willing to do business with one another for a long long time. For the US that’s not so bad - we are a net food and fuel exporter. For the EU, this is a disaster. They really needed Russian natural resources - including energy.

Europe sucks. It’s full of globalist and extreme leftist.

I think you’re confusing Putin with Biden again.

"Odd question here, but if Putin had to flee Russia where would he go?"

Not odd at all because it's a question I often consider. Unfortunately, I think the answer for both Putin and I is...nowhere is safe. Although, Putin will be escaping with a whole lot more money than I will. That should, at least temporarily, allow for safety in another location.

Russia does more short-term and long-term damage to the Russian economy

You're delusional if you that's happening.

Russian GDP has exceeded even the most optimistic predictions made by Russian economists this year.

Russia has gained territory in Ukraine that compromised 70-80% of the Ukraine's GDP. It's making inroads in Africa.

Unlike us and most Western countries, the Russians are drowning in debt.

putin isn’t smart enough to win this. He’s massacred far too many people.

Gee, wonder where Russia got this idea? Biden is burning down the post 1945 world economic order for short term advantage... that may not actually exist. The flight from the USD is going to be real in a few more years.

Everything is subject to espionage and of course the West makes everything in China..... Russia will get it from whoever is the customer. Kinda like Russian oil bought by India and sold 3x higher to Europeans....

To: MeganC; All

So if Isolation to you means they can’t buy the latest Iphone or an official McDonald’s hamerburger then maybe they are isolated. On a larger scale they are not isolated. They can still sell products, they’re still selling oil, agriculture still trading with a substantial number of countries. If you think Europe and the US are the only ways to engage with the world then sure but their GDP numbers, oil exports and clothing imports suggest another story. IMF has them as the biggest GDP growth country for the last 2 years. They are surprised but don’t think it’s sustainable. Not sure why I should give them the benefit of the doubt when they’ve already grossly miscalculated. Moreover, the Russian economy isn’t as dependent on the FIRE assets as the G7. Their resources remain in demand. I get that the goal is to isolate Russia but you have to fairly assess the play and ask if you are getting the desired results. I submit that if the collective west thought this would be the results of the largest sanctions in History they would have held out the threat and found another way (less painful to themselves) to reach the desired outcome.

You are too stupid to realize I gave Skywise the credit.

And then injected my own observation.
