To make the "less than" symbol appear I used a code sequence starting with "&" and ending with ";". For "less than" I insert "lt" between those symbols; for "greater than" I insert "gt" between "&" and ";". Obviously I can't type that all out in a straight line without invoking the code effect of < or >.

You need to terminate a paragraph with <P>.
You need to terminate a line with <br>. A simple carriage return doesn't work when HTML is engaged. FR posting can be done without using HTML (thus without being able to use italics or bold), and in that case carriage returns are effective in a sort of wysiwyg manner. Also in that case, something which looks like a URL will be interpreted as a URL and a link will be produced.

We can't believe much of what we read these days...polls are skewed, either by the way the questions are asked, or who responds, and articles are written to either cover the writer'sass, all the bases, or in Fournier's case, to sell his bias as fact.

I'm with you...we shouldn't trust polls or political pukes...ours or theirs.

The CNN/Gallup polls tend to be pretty accurate and more in line with other polls.

Don't get too excited yet. The dems have been beaten in 2 straight elections, and I think they will be hungry for blood, and it will ALL come out to vote.

I'm not saying GWB won't be reelected, I think it's likely, but I would plan for a tight election, and work twice as hard, volunteer twice as much etc. Because we certainly can't afford a president Dean.

GW supporters in Sara/Manatee/Charlotte counties. This part of the state

I went to the mall today and there was no parking at all. I then went to Costco and it was packed and everybody had their carts full. We then went to eat and the restaurants were full with lines at 3 PM !

I was at Walmart yesterday and the lines were 20 deep !

This is a holiday weekend so it got my attention that people were spending money !

You have an interesting theory. If just 10 large cities attract most of the population, the emptied-out portions of fly-over country have more than 60 Senate seats alone. It would work similarly but to a lesser degree with Electoral College votes, because the ECV totals per state are diluted by total population (House seats). Of course, the concentrated House districts in increasingly urban areas would ironically have the opposite effect. As the inevitable urban decay expands outward from city centers, more voters will have urban D influence.
