Europeans were just as brutal.

Please. No they were not. You're making the same facile argument that the Greek captive of the Huns famously made to Priscus of Panium.

As for the Inquisition, it is estimated that over its 300 year history, the Inquisitional courts presided over about 2,000 executions total, or about 7 per annum.

By contrast, the Iroquois killed about 10,000 Hurons (many by torture) in the summer of 1649 alone.

The comparison is stupid.

Christianity helped save Iroquoian culture. From itself.

Amen.

Where are something like 99% of all Indian tribes present when the pale faces arrived? Dead and gone. Contact with Europeans was a demographic holocaust. Prating about how virtuous we were is just a lot of hypocrisy.

Always remember most of the Bible was written or rewritten by a bunch of priests to support their supernatural narrative that elevates their class to being the real rulers. The constant anger of the prophets is a classic example of this power struggle for supremacy. When someone uses Bible qoutes to butress their case the appropriate remark is ‘Vere you dere Charlie.’

That's a complete lie. Even the most generous estimates say that the indigenous population of the US at the arrival of Europeans was about 10 million. There are currently about 6.5 million people with American Indian blood alive today. They are still here. Their way of life has changed, but whose hasn't?

Read the history. The tribes also have a fine record of wiping each other out. Look up the Eries and find out what happened to them. Then, move on to the Neutrals. Then the Susquehannocks. Most of the tribes considered their neighbors to be their sworn enemies and lived by the code of the vengeance war. And you know what the good book says about those who live by the sword.

And for the record, NO ONE here has "prated about how virtuous 'we' were." You are the one engaging in whataboutism.

The vast majority of the Indians were killed by diseases due
to simple contact with Europeans. This was all due to the earth’s geography. The Eurasian landmass allowed for cross continental sharing of epidemics for 10s of thousands of years so there was a sharing immunity because of one’s genes surviving. (Africa though connected, presented a different challenge for the sharing of disease.) It would not have mattered if Europeans had arrived and thrown donuts at the Indians they still would have died in great numbers.

That's correct. All someone need do is read the first-hand accounts from that time. With a few notable exceptions, the indigenous people of the Americas were hyper-sensitive to European pathogens. It took generations for them to develop immunity.

> In fact, there are more people alive today in the US with native blood than at any time up to the arrival of the Europeans.

a curious counterfactual, heheh.

How about some evidence to back up that spurious claim, since it should be easy to do.

Where I partly grew up there were a lot of markers about the ‘Powhatten Nation’. Not one of them left alive. One of the many Indian tribes that benefited from Christianity and paleface cultur. You in Texas were experts in exterminating the native residents and then congratulating yourselves for your service to humanity. The palefaces killed off most of the native people with disease, firewarter and straightup genocide (the Round Valley War in progressive California is a fine example of the latter, The remnants were rounded up and driven into concentration camps euphemistically called ‘reservations’. There was a determined effort to try to force the reservation Indians to become third rate white men by trying to intimidate the natives to give up the ‘old ways’ for the radiant progressive future. Mostly sounds like how the woke communists want to treat normal pale faces today.

I have a concern regarding your statement, "they clearly had fallen from the noble example of their ancestors." It directly implies that there was a prior time when Iroquois behavior was noble. I don't know, but I sincerely doubt it.

Well even pagan peoples had some idea of virtue and strived to live up to it at some points but completely abandoned themselves to vice at others. In the specific time I was referencing (1660s), the Iroquois were buying liquor from the Dutch and they went down a dark path of alcoholism and violence that wasn't there in, say, 1630.

I remember reading one Frenchman who admitted that rape was almost completely unknown to the Iroquois. It just wasn't a common vice among them, even though they could be 10x more horrible than the French in other ways. Most of the colonial sources quite readily admitted that the Indians had their virtues as well as their vices. So I can't agree at all with a continental Lord-of-the-Flies characterization.

But read those first-hand accounts for yourself, see what you think.

Odd homage to virtue is not unknown. Even in the Bible, there are stories that depraved pagans would not rape a married woman, but would murder her husband so they would feel free to rape the widow. How weird is that?

Such behavior was still noted among Muslims.

The Powhatans are still around. The Pamunkey and the Mattaponi are still holding land they held all the way back in colonial times.

Countless other Powhatans intermarried with local whites, Indians, and blacks over the centuries and then moved to the cities seeking economic opportunities. While their culture and language may have died out, they live on in their descendants that still populate the area.

Oh, and at least as of 1970s the remaining Powhatans were almost all Baptists.

These are postage stamp reservations and the Powhatten people and their culture are both certainly dead as a dodo. A few people worshiping in a tiny chapel only underlines the tragic fate of a people robbed both of their identity and culture. This is what woke communism means to do for all normality. It is the meaning of the desecration of Monument Ave. in Richmond.

There is a difference between being "robbed of your identity and your culture" and voluntarily abandoning those parts of your culture that were dysfunctional. Would anyone argue that torturing, murdering, and eating your enemies is a cultural trait that should have been preserved?

why can’t the pale faces simply admit that they wanted to steal what the Indians had and they did it. All this moralizing clap trap is just that. A handful of survivors decided to practice Paris being worth a mass. If the Injins liked to dine on someone or spend a few days making an enemy, like Col Crawford, really know he was dying, what of it? We practice remote control killing as an art form and constantly celebrate our ‘gooodness’. What pretentious bs.

Incorrect, laughably so, as evidenced, for example, by the book of Isaiah having no significant differences when compared to a complete text found in the Qumran Caves.

You would have done better to cite that scripture use is the logical fallacy of appeal to authority. Unfortunately it is irrelevant; you failed to grasp that the scripture reference to was not there to refute your ignorant original comment.
