The gospel challenge:
(Can the non-Calvinist answer)
  1. The gospel has a name: exactly 5 words.
  2. The gospel can be expressed: exactly 3 words.
One can start to preach the gospel when #1 & 2 are understood. (A hint: Rev 3:20 is NOT the gospel!)

We can only marvel that Reformed men and women are so soon removed from the truth of God's sovereign, particular, electing love in Jesus Christ, which truth has not only been confessed "by the Reformers and Puritans" before them, but has also been confessed by the Reformed church herself in her Creed, the Canons of Dordt.
Who hath bewitched them?
As for us, we are determined, out of love for the truth, to oppose the lie of a love of God in Jesus Christ for all men without exception; to try to rescue those who have been taken captive by this doctrine; and to preach and testify, near and far, in season and out of season, a love of God for the world that saves the world, a death of the Son of God that redeemed the world, a purpose of God for the saving of sinners that is accomplished, and a salvation of enslaved sinners by the sovereign power of the grace of God alone for the comfort of every believer and the glory of God.

Who has carried off the people into captivity? Who robs God of His glory? Who silences the prophets?

Well, "the gospel is the Power of God unto salvation" would be a good guess except that this is describing one of the benefits of those who believe the gospel and is not either the name of the gospel or expressing the gospel itself.

Gosh, I'm only trying to help those who have lost the gospel. Unfortunately, the Arminian is so set against the TRUTH that they haven't stopped to figure out that they don't have a clue what the gospel IS.

Notice, though, that the acid from our friends is down as they try to figure out what this little grace man is talking about.

I would think that they would want to buy the Truth!

But, if they want to buy a vowel and sound it out, I'm not opposed to them dipping their toes in the water with this method. The Lord might just push them in. Now, wouldn't that be a hoot?

Jesus is the answer only if you give Jesus' answer. I know the gospel!

Forgive them, Father.

Shouldn't you be saying that through a priest or something like that?

Besides, you should probably be more worried about the gospel your church preaches.

Hey, Sis, is it just me, or is nearly every thread Catholic and are we outnumbered?

Interesting side light Woody...go and look up the greek for "Father forgive them" ..it does not mean Father grant them forgivness..it means Father permit them . Jesus was asking God to allow the cross.

Woody it has never been about numbers..it has always been about truth

2Ti 4:1 I charge [thee] Woody therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;

2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

4 And they shall turn away [their] ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. 5 But ( dear Woody)watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

6 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.

7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished [my] course, I have kept the faith:

Father, forgive this most ignorant comment.

You want to follow your man-made doctrine, be my guest. You're going to be very surprised when you find out that you have it all backwards - and you're full of deadly pride, to boot.

Here's a little bit of trivia for ya'! How many times does Jesus mention the church and how many times does Jesus mention the kingdom of God?

BTW, I might be more concerned if I hadn't already met the Lord.
