I assume by your response you mean the "Holy Spirit" guides you.

Then why are there so many Protestant denominations? Is the "Holy Spirit" confused,or what?

Oh, how painful it is to Me that souls so seldom unite themselves to Me in Holy Communion. I wait for souls, and they are indifferent toward Me. I love them tenderly and sincerely, and they distrust Me. I want to lavish My graces on them, and they do not want to accept them. They treat Me as a dead object, whereas My Heart is full of love and mercy. (1447)

The problem codie is raising any human messege to inspired status.

Remember Satan in the garden only "slightly" misquoted God.Error does not have to be 100% evil to be error or cause you not to look at the Christ of the Bible ..it only has to vary slightly .In this case Christ lives in me...the bible tells me that.

John 14:20 At that day ye shall know that I [am] in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.

I do not need to go to communion to united with Christ.."a small misstatement" but important error IMHO

All 1600 hundred years of it? God allowed this? Why?

Oh, not in the beginning. But eventually Rome lost the gospel and replaced it with a false one.

841 The Churches relationship with the Muslims. "The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; those profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind's judge on the last day,"

The teaching of the Catholic Church, as repeated in Pope Pius XII's encyclical Mystici Corporis Christi, is that any non-Catholic can be saved if (1) he remains non-Catholic through no personal fault or vincible ignorance; (2) he follows the dictates of the religion to which he adheres: and (3) he at all times conforms to the dictates of the Natural Law.

Why does God allow the enemy to sow tares into the church--well, one reason is that He intends to burn them.

Well, it is because of Rome:

Vital testimony comes from the hand of the Archbishop Laud himself, a professed Jesuit. After his death, a letter was found in his effects which was endorsed by him and dated March 1628. The endorsement reads: 'A Jesuit letter, sent to the Rector at Bruxels, about the ensuing Parliament.' The letter gave the Superior of the Jesuits, then resident at Brussels, an account of church affairs in England. Part of it reads:

It is specifically because the enemy is sowing tares into the church, just like I said. The Holy Spirit is not confused. He is busy opening blind eyes and changing hearts while the enemy is busy sowing tares. However, don't worry, the Lord intends to burn them.

I wonder where he found that?

Welcome aboard, anyone with that material from John Owen on their homepage must be OK.

Doug.....go and read that again with great care...

Note that SEVERAL books are mentioned...there is the book of life (containing the names of the elect) and the "other" books..the books of judgement. The elect are not in the judgement books as Jesus has paid the price and took their judgement for them

Rev 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is [the book] of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

Please note the judgements were not from the book of life here...but from the "other books"

Rev 20:13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
Rev 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
Rev 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Yes there is a need for the lost to be "judged..as every man must know why he deserves hell Doug

Rev 21:27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither [whatsoever] worketh abomination, or [maketh] a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.

2Cr 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things [done] in [his] body, according to that he hath done, whether [it be] good or bad

Ecc 3:17 I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for [there is] a time there for every purpose and for every work.

Doug as you read Chapter 19 you see the marriage supper is prepared...now you do not prepare a marriage supper without already having a bride..The Bride is the church dressed in fine white linin..The Bride has her name written in the book of life..there is no sin judgement for the Bride as her sin was paid for in total by the Lamb...HE paid the Brides price

There is no record of our sins to be opened

Col 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross...He nailed them to the cross

And so the Bride waits as the judgement of God falls on the unsaved..

Rev 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire

Psa 28:4 Give them according to their deeds, and according to the wickedness of their endeavours: give them after the work of their hands; render to them their desert.

Rev 11:18 And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.

The Book of life is opened for the reward of the Saints..a judgement of works unto reward..not damnation

Doug I do not have much of an interest in the end times as a study..but there is no scripture to indicate that there will be salvation based on works for anyone.Only the elect written in the Lambs book will be at that celebration!

2Jo 1:10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into [your] house, neither bid him God speed:

Well, how about trying this. I have pointed out to you your gospel. Why don't you tell me what the gospel REALLY is. It has a name (exactly 5 words) and it can be expressed (exactly 3 words). When you get back to me with the answer, you will see that I am right.

BTW, simply dismissing is really an ignorant way to debate.

Codie...when we start raising the level of personal revelation to scripture we open ourselves to all kinds of fatal errors...that is how many cults begin..so I have a personal rule which is also biblical..it it does not line up with the known word of God..or if the prophet has ever erred then the prophet is no prophet.

I have no problem with commentaries..or with personal expansions on scripture..as long as we all understand they are just devotional and not infallible. As I pointed out,Satan only changed God's word ever so slightly...that is the way he works.

That is why the Bible tells us to have discernment..
