"Evidently my WWII service whatever it was, wasn't impressive enough to keep me from getting called down."

Stop in and help support our military, their families and Vets!
Come on by and meet some very Patriotic FReepers.
See great graphics and posts and have a few laughs along the way.

New Thread Every Day!

VOYAGER, you know me, You have posted to me before and I to you. So I just want to say this......

I respect you for your service to this great country.

My father and Uncles ,cousins and a few aunts, have all served in WW11,one was stationed at Pearl Harbor when it was attacked, Battle of the Bulge,Korean war,and Vietnam.Several have been career military. Every branch is represented in my family.

I have not served myself, but I have a devotion to our military and an apprecation to those that have served our country. I thank you VOYAGER , I know I have said this before but I want to say thank you again now.

In my life, in my tours with the USO and to VA hospitals and Veterans groups, I have met thousand of veterans and those serving active duty as well, so I feel a great bond with our military and veterans in my own specail way.

I just want to thank you sir for serving and helping to keep me living in a free and safe land.

Dittos, VHAW - appreciate so much all of our Veterans. What a terrible place we would live in if not for all those who've fought for America. Thank you, every one of you, for your bravery and your service to our country.

Voyager, I hope you don't mind if I add your name to my ping list and invite you to the USO Canteen to visit tomorrow when I post a new thread? Snow Bunny and I have tried to make it feel a little like the USOs of WWII era.

No negative connotation to you was intended. I hope none was felt. I too wish to thank you for your service. It was because of examples like you that I volunteered. God bless you. BTW engines have been known to catastrophically fail on the B-1B and one was lost due to electrical problems. I believe we have lost six.
  1. Bird strike
  2. Fuel manifold failure
  3. Low level training accident
  4. Low level training accident
  5. Electrical fire/indications
  6. This one

Re. 173. Thanks for your service. My father-in-law (gone now since 1986) was a B-24 navigator during the "big fracas". My Dad served in Korea and Vietnam, and I did a cold war hitch to include Korea.

If you didn't lose any buddies to either "friendly fire" or accidents you were extremely fortunate (in fact, I envy you). I still remember good friends who paid the "ultimate sacrifice" during training even if we weren't in a "hot" war at the time. Both my Dad and father-in-law also lost buddies in the same way as well as in combat.

Once again, thanks for responding when your nation called.

For the person who posted about WWII war dead, at this site:http://www.abmc.gov/abmc45.htm, it lists 405,399 killed in WWII. I knew it was a bit more than 235,000 or so.

To my fellow vet, Voyager, ALL YOUR TIME IN SERVICE COUNTED MY FRIEND. TO HELL WITH ANYONE HERE WHO SAYS IT DID NOT! IF YOU WORE THE UNIFORM OF OUR COUNTRY, IN WAR OR IN PEACE, BY GOD IT COUNTS! PERIOD! END OF DEBATE!

I know you are proud of your service and your duty to our beloved Republic and I for one stand by you. No one here is going to agree with everything everyone has to say. We are all different. However, we all here are Patriots and hate the socialists in D.C. and the commies world wide. Stand tall and stand proud my friend!

One last thing on the friendly fire thing. We do not know what happened to one bomb that was dropped from 25,000 feet or so. It could have had a damaged fin, been struck by one of the other bombs and got thrown off course or something. We have wonderful tech stuff, but we all know that our cars and computers do break down. Weather could have also caused it. We may never ever know.
