His main point is that government critics are not necessarily evil people or leftists or unpatriotic. It was horribly edited, mostly just a rant, but I still agree with much of what he says, especially, "to pretend that this government should get our unequivocal support is a dangerous fantasy."

I think his main point might be a strawman. Perhaps there are people who say anyone who criticizes the government is evil, leftist, or unpatriotic. If they are saying so, clearly they are wrong. If, on the other hand, they are only saying that lewrockwell is evil, leftist, and unpatriotic, well, then, two out of three ain't bad. Aw heck, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt (remembering Matthew 7:1) and say one out of three.

So Saddam Hussein being in a position to control the oil output of Iraq, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia is not a threat to our security?

Correct. The stuff is useless to him unless he can sell it. And, like the other oil producing states, he would want to be able to sell it to us.

By your logic, then, the Arab boycott of the United States for supporting Israel would have been impossible ... heck, OPEC itself would be impossible. Please try to reconcile your views with history...

Here's a better deal: set up a lewrockwell.com forum and quit wasting JimRob's bandwidth.

Well gee Catspaw, how about setting up a catspaw.com site and quit wasting JimRob's bandwidth yourself? I come here to read articles and opinion pieces and don't care to have you as the self-appointed inspector determining what is worthy of "Freeper" consumption.

When I joined, this site was about posting articles and opinion pieces and dissecting them in an intelligent way. With the likes of you on board, it is becoming increasingly nothing more than a "Bush is Great Rah Rah" and "What is Your Favorite Color" collection of threads. It is difficult to even find thought provoking articles or opinion pieces and when one is posted, dweebs like you jump up and attempt to shout them down, rather than engage in worthwhile debate.

I suggest you think real hard about YOUR reasons for being here, because from what I see, the poster has certainly contributed to FR with thoughts and ideas and you have subtracted from FR with your personal opinion that indicates a belief that this is nothing but a Bush or GOP sponsored site. FYI - Not everybody here agrees 100% with your unexamined opinions and we don't appreciate you deciding that only your "opinions" are worth reading.

Boycotts and cartels cannot last very long (the 1974 boycott did not if you remember). If the price is right, someone is always willing to sell.

Hey, didn't the US put al Qaeda in Afghanistan? Didn't we have a symbiotic relationship with them? Therefore, the US military should attack... oh, never mind.

OPEC had us by the short and curlies until the early eighties. You may wish to re-enact the economic woes of the Seventies with your foreign policy ideas, but I'd rather not go there...

RE:IMHO. Anyone now speaking against the unconstitutional power grabs is slandered as a traitor. I submit they are more patriotic than the slanderers.

And definately less craven...
