Well folks, I'm going to leave you with one more and then I'm going to hit the sack.
You've gotta read numbers 5, 9, and 14.

And some folks look up to these people.

1. Question: If you could live forever, would you and why?
Answer: "I would not live forever, because we should not live forever, because if we were supposed to live forever, then we would live forever, but we cannot live forever, which is why I would not live forever."
---Miss Alabama in the 1994 Miss USA contest

2. "Whenever I watch TV and see those poor starving kids all over the world, I can't help but cry. I mean I'd love to be skinny like that but not with all those flies and death and stuff."
---Mariah Carey

3. "Researchers have discovered that chocolate produces some of the same reactions in the brain as marijuana. The researchers also discovered other similarities between the two, but can't remember what they are."
---Matt Lauer on NBC's Today Show, August 22

4. "I haven't committed a crime. What I did was fail to comply with the law."
---David Dinkins, New York City Mayor, (answering accusations that he failed to pay his taxes)

5. "Smoking kills. If you're killed, you've lost a very important part of your life."
---Brooke Shields, during an interview to become spokesperson for a federal anti- smoking campaign.

6. "I've never had major knee surgery on any other part of my body."
--Winston Bennett, Univ. of KY basketball forward

7. "Outside of the killings, Washington has one of the lowest crime rates in the country."
---Mayor Marion Barry, Washington, DC

8. "We're going to turn this team around 360 degrees."
---Jason Kidd, upon his drafting to the Dallas Mavericks

9. "I'm not going to have some reporters pawing through our papers. We are the president."
---Hillary Clinton (commenting on the release of subpoenaed documents)

10. "China is a big country, inhabited by many Chinese."
---Former French President Charles De Gaulle

11. "That lowdown scoundrel deserves to be kicked to death by a jackass, and I'm just the one to do it."
---A Congressional Candidate in Texas

12."It isn't pollution that's harming the environment. It's the impurities in our air and water that are doing it."
---Former U.S. Vice-president Dan Quayle

13. "Without censorship, things can get terribly confused in the public mind."
-General William Westmoreland

14. And last but not least, a parting word from Dan Quayle: "I love California. I practically grew up in Phoenix."

It sounds delicious. I like to cook (and eat) fish, so Lenten menus are fine with me, but my husband needs to be bribed with grilled shrimp or salmon occasionally to keep his temper sweet till Easter.

FAB, dammit, just take a breather...don't abandon us. I mean, if you need time away, I can sure understand that, but there just ain't nothing out there that compares to here, and there just ain't no folks out there that compare to us. So, you go on and tramp up and down the beach awhile in your bare feet, then pop back in and say howdy when you feel like it.

Maybe if you're lucky, after 34 years of marriage, you'll get two 5-gallon tubs of joint compound for a gift like I did last year.

Don't tell me...naaaah, couldn't be! (You don't by chance make monster mud out of all that joint compound, now, do ya???)

Funny you should mention - grilled salmon's what we had today, with dill & lemon.

Well, now Joe's closin' up shop. I guess I should head for the round-up myself. Busy weekend coming up, what with kids' basketball, school play auditions, the model train show, etc.

G'nite, all

registered, did you lose the space on harvardplace.org?

Ooops, Joe, that was my space and I very well may have lost it. Don't think they paid the domain fee for this year. Sorry.

we've thought of other things to keep us occupied these evenings. You know, like reading...

We had thought we would have all sorts of things to do with a fresh and increased oxygen supply, extra money and extra time. Problem was, we were too grouchy to do them!!!!

I had heard somewhere in my wanderings that nicotine is more addictive than heroine. I believe it. And I'm not sure I can exactly describe the withdrawal symptoms. It's not like it was actually pain, per se. But anger and annoyance would certainly have to be at the top of the list of symptoms. I guess that is why Zyban helps some people. It's a seratonin uptake drug---like Prosac---that mellows out the anger. Maybe that will be our next step!!!! But not until after our honeymoon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

she might just have to pay me to start stuffing HER some. I got this look on my face and said, "But I'm married". You never saw someone go red that fast.

Would have loved to have seen that!!!

Actually, I tried one a friend stuffed not long ago and it really was pretty good. Guess I have resisted because it reminds me of days I would prefer to forget when I used to buy papers for other reasons!!!! (Long ago.....clean and sober for 20+ years!!!!)

Worse.

About 100 years ago (well, it seems like it anyway) someone apparently slipped some sort of drug into our drinks. When we came to, we were the proud owners of an old 11-room Victorian that, as far as we can discern, had been used by the military for search-and-destroy training missions.

We've been "fixing it up" ever since.

Hey, I thought I was being pretty generous.

Now get back to work skim-coating that wall.

Don't make me come over there!

If you do make sure that you hit it in the processor. Otherwise it COULD come back from the other side. ;^)

You will not believe this, or maybe you would......

After all of the frantic gyrations, it turns out that my cable modem company (Adelphia) was upgrading their systems. They just now came back on line......Gee, thanks for the heads up!

I am a nervous wreck from thinking it was my computer. I don't think you have enough scotch for this one...
