Fake news has been around a long time, hundreds, probably thousands of years.

People need to be on their toes and do cross checking with many sources, which is much easier to do now.

But there will always be a contingent of people who are lazy and prefer their information “curated” e.g. pre-chewed for them so they don’t have to think too much.

One major problem this election cycle was the Media reliance on 'fake news' to further their narrative and agenda. The media overtly threw their integrity out the window to promote Clinton at every opportunity and trash Trump at every opportunity. They didn't even bother to try to appear coy about it.
