“There isn’t too much freedom. There is too much freedom from responsibilities and consequences.”
Freedom is determined by consequences. You act based on the perceived consequences of your action. Thus, too much freedom is the equivalent of too few consequences.
So there is such a thing as too much freedom when you have too few consequences. The heavier the consequence the less likely you will do something. So, if you are advocating more consequences you’re advocating less freedom.
You only have unlimited freedom when you have no consequences
But the glimpse I got was very positive. Just the cleanliness, the sense of safety, the lack of graffiti and drugged out "homeless", was very appealing.
I'm sure one of the things that has changed since you were there is the skyline. Lots of new skyscrapers and iconic building. We really enjoyed the Marina Bay district. They've done some beautiful things there.
One of building there has become a symbol of Singapore - it's the Sands hotel. A 5 star experience. You may want to consider staying there. Here's a picture (you've probably seen it)...
I sorta know the guy who designed that building.
My best friend used to work for him.
Met him a few times.
Pretty cool looking place.
He has many other designs out there.
Moshe Safdie
I had never heard of him. Very impressive guy with iconic world class works.
