You don't have enough brains to fill an ant's ass.
Our national security dictates that our commander in chief be in a secure area during this time of crisis. He IS leading our nation, not cowering in a hole, as you suggest.
Frankly, I'd feel a whole lot better if he spent the next couple of days underneath the Colorado mountains, but Offutt's ok for now.
How much do you know about LEADERSHIP, nitwit? I'm sure your military experience and knowledge could fit on the head of a pin.
.
To: Jim Noble
Our leaders are of no importance at all, compared to the destruction of our liberty and the deaths of tens of thousands of our people.
Bush and his family belong in the White House. Sorry, Jim, they don't. Even some of the stories about English leadership in WW II are inflated. They had bunkers too and used them. To lose the top political leader at a time like this would be an even greater tragedy and the ultimate strike against the symbols of America. That is what the terrorists were after, the symbols of our power. And our president is the ultimate symbol of our country.

I'm with you, Yikes. Andrea, Jennings and Couric are traitors. If I had enough money and could catch an airplane I would go beat the sh@t out of every one of them. They are totally despicable scum and stupid to boot. Andrea's "comforter in chief" statement is about as maudlin and stupid as one can get. JEEEEEEESSHHHHHHHHH!

Stop overreacting!
Control your emotions and stop all the nonsense talk.
Right now, the President must be protected.
This is a time when all Americans need to rally around President Bush and fully support his efforts. I'm absolutely sure the President will make a fairly swift and decisive decision on how to retaliate.
GOD BLESS AMERICA.

Are you working on your reputation?
To: George W. Bush
I didn't know that. I thought it was supposed to be hardened to withstand a single small nuke, something like a Hiroshima bomb which was the type of weapon current when Offut's facilities were built. I didn't know it was not hardened at all. I hate to ask but are you certain that it is a soft target? When I said 'not hardened' I meant against weapons of today. I assure you Offutt is/was multitargeted with enough nukes to make all of Omaha a crater. There is no chance the Command Post would survive. This was known even in the 70's when I was there. Hence the "Looking Glass" aerial command posts; one of which is always in the air. Part of my job was to brief Glass crews.
Cheyenne Mountain is the only underground military facility I'm aware of which would have a chance of surviving what's targeted against it..and i do mean "a chance"...

I've been in the Offut Command Post and it is blast hardened and nuclear hardened. It is burried pretty deep with many feet of concrete and steel above. It can withstand a direct/near direct hit from a small nuke. It's mission is to launch the missiles before it gets blasted. It can not withstand a direct hit from a high yield weapon. Cheyene Mountain is probably better hardened but it too can be taken out by a high yield direct thermonuclear hit.

This was always my understanding and I did take a certain interest in these matters for the last 25 years. I knew someone whose family made food deliveries to replenish their rations several stories underground. Cheyenne was supposed to take a single hydrogen blast but would not have survived the multiples the Russkies had targetted any more than the Kremlin would have survived the dozen nukes we had targetted on their military buildings in Moscow center within an area of about ten city blocks. And then there was the matter of timing the multiple nukes so that they were separated enough that the first didn't ignite those following on the first. It's a little insane what the military planners can come up with when they're serious about a target.

"Andrea Mitchell sez Bush has failed to be our 'Comforter in Chief'!!?? Surely you are KIDDING! Anyone who would make a remark like that is a certifiable CLYMER! If NBC had any dignity they'd fire her sorry A**

Surely you are KIDDING!
Nope, heard it w/ my own 2 ears (when I should have been working).

Thanks for the kind words.
To: Howlin
I see you're still trying to educate some of them; good for you. I finally got sick and tired of the constant whinning of some of posters on FR and retired my keyboard.
For some off reason I though on a day like this some of them would have taken a breather. Guess I was wrong. I've checked in a couple of times and read comments ranging from blaiming this on the so-called open borders with Mexico, to it being a conspiracy by our own government to take over the nation, that it is an Isreali conspiracy...and the crap on this thread attacking the President.
I guess things haven't changed all that much on FR. You hang in there.
To: CWOJackson
Nope, they haven't. Still the same group looking for anything they don't agree with to gripe about. Still the same group seeing things where things aren't. And still the same group expecting Bush to govern like "their guy" would have. Har.

Real leaders don't look for "safe places". They stand up to the enemy. I'm glad to see that our President has done just that.
I also expect that he will respond with honor.
