Keep it short so that I can read it in less than 10 minutes, thanks.

Don't the ancient texts delegate 616 instead of 666.

The "When in Doubt, Overload" technique is best kept to explosives.
To: sirgawain
Nothing wrong with "69" though, right? ;)

Don't the ancient texts delegate 616 instead of 666. St. John obviously was referring to Caesar Nero when he wrote the Apocalypse. After all, that's how his name adds up in the Hebrew alphabet. In the LATIN alphabet, it adds up to 616 -- hence the variant reading in some mss.

It's funny you should mention that but I'm sure I read that, too. Another strange item was that I saw "999" behind a CNN reporter at ground zero in NY. I thought "Gee, that would be really weird if it was 666." Anyone else see the "999". I think it was just an address or store sign.

Funny, but the Bible we use at Mass doesn't look anything like the
National Enquirer.

I've never really understood the fascination with the "end times". If I have to confront the Lord today because it is the end of the world or because I get hit by a bus, what is the difference. We all need to have our spiritual house in order everyday not try to time things so we can be that last worker to come to the vinyard.

Admin Moderator thought it would start a flame war. At least it's only getting mocked. This article takes the "America is Babylon" angle. I would actually like to see a discussion of that also.
To: sirgawain
I will try to get a chance to read it. Why all of the tricks with the fonts?

Just copied it from the source.

Fine, don't think any of the FReeper crowd is going to let anyone implant a chip in them or their cat. And in no way can I imagine that our President would sign off on such a thing, simply because he is mindful of the prophesy concerning the Last Days.
However, we did come very close to having All Gore leading our current fight. Perhaps God has already shown us mercy in giving us a different leader.
As long as we're quoting Bible verses about mammon, here's a fun one:
"A feast is made for laughter, and wine maketh merry: but money answereth all things."--Ecclesiastes 10:19
