There is an Oz on stage and there's Oz in the regular world. Most rockers are like that. Show biz, ya' know.

Go Ozzy. In honor I'll have to pull out my old Ozzy albums and listen to them again...oops, I don't have a turntable any more!
Guess I'll have to go out and get some of his cd's.

I forget the name of the place, but it was a Spanish joiont (like El Coyote) between the Selis Home for the disabled and the Malibu diner, across the road from the underground parking lot and 148 W. 23rd Street, where I used to live, between sixth and seventh.
Used to see one of the Ramone's (I always got them confused, but this was the one with the fringe and page-boy haircut) at mendels superdeli on Seventh, between 23rd and 22nd.
Blondie used to live on top of what was Lucky Cheng's before it became the S&M restaurant and anthony perkins lived on 21st near the seminary. Grace Jones and kathleen Turner lived in the nabe, too.
When were you in Chelsea? I thought I was the only right-winger ever to live there?

"Gee, now if Charlie Manson pipes up with a nice pro-American rant, my day will be complete. " Oh cripes, don't be so up tight.;) I'm probably on your side too in most ways, and the music I listen to (and write) would probably shatter your teeth.
Lemme guess, you thought "suicide solution" was about encouraging kids to off themselves, right?
Take the good news with a smile when it comes. You'll live longer.
(PS. That was a funny line of yours, though.)

Well put, friend. Bump for a fellow writer before I leave for the bar...

Black Sabbath played this song on their recent tours, they believe...
After Forever/Master of Reality/Black Sabbath
Have you ever thought about your soul? Can it be saved?
Or perhaps you think that when you are dead you just stay in your grave.
Is God just a thought within your head or is he a part of you?
Is Christ just a name that you read in a book when you were in school?
When you think about death do you lose your breath or do you keep your cool?
Would you like to see the Pope on the end of a rope? Do you think he's a fool?
Well I see the truth.
Yes I've seen the light and I've changed my ways.
And I'll be prepared when you're lonely and scared at the end of our days.
Could it be you're afraid of what your friends might say
If they knew you believed in God above?
They should realize before they criticize that God is the only way to love.
Is your mind so small that you have to fall
In with the pack wherever they run?
Will you still sneer when death is near
And say that you may as well worship the sun.
I think it is true it was people like you that crucified Christ
I think it is sad the opinion you had was the only one voiced.
Will you be so sure when your day is near say you don't believe?
You had the chance but you turned it down now you can't retrieve.
Perhaps you think before you say God is dead and gone
Open your eyes, just realize that he is the one
The only one who can save you now from all this sin and hate.
Or will you jeer at all you hear?
Yes, I think it's too late.
OZZY!!!

I was there from '89-91. Sounds like the Ramone you saw was Johnny. I lived beside the Chelsea Cineplex on 23rd between 7th and 8th. There was a really good Spanish restaurant on that block.

That would have been El Coyote underneath the Chelsea Hotel where Mr Vicious dispatched Ms. Spungen. History everywhere in chelsea.

Am I the only one here wondering if Osama's big ugly head could in some way fit in Ozzy's mouth. Okay Freeper Artists...where's our graphic?
I had a serious panic attack a couple of days ago when my Ozzy tape was not in the plastic tape case...started uttering profanities, then I remembered it was still in my tape player in my truck...whew!
Ozzy Rocks!!!

Ozzy was on Howard Stern's show this morning. Announced that ALL proceeds of his December 23 show at the Meadowlands would go to Stern's fund for the NYPD and FDNY. Said he did not want a big deal made out of it and that he wanted all the money to go to the cause, not to be siphoned off by "fundraisers" as was the case with the Celebrity telethon, that'shy he is giving it to Stern's fund.

Try some of these on for size:
Ozzy's a born again Christian
Ozzy has a whole passle of kids and spends 6 months a year at home with the family
Ozzy, in general, is a really nice guy with heavy conservative leanings
Ozzy understands what his image is and knows he doesn't have any marketable skills out side rock and roll and he plays his part, and periodically sneaks some truth into songs because he knows the kids should learn things (try out "Lord of This World" (a paen against the move away from Christianity he saw going on in the early 70s) or "Suicide Solution" (about the dangers of alchohol))
Ozzy grew up in England's version of 1970s Pittsburgh and has the foul mouth and gruff attitude to prove it.
Not saying you should run out and buy all his records. But don't knock the Ozzman. He's earned his place as the grand old man of heavy metal (33 years he's been making hearing aide manufacturers rich... 33 years) and he's not a BSer. He plays a certain character on stage (that character being every mother's nightmare) and that's where the character stays. No different than someone playing the devil in a production of Faust. And there probably isn't a single person on the planet more amazed at and thankful for his success than Ozzy.

ozzie is donating the proceeds of his meadowlands show to the victims' families. he called howard's show this AM(howard has been doing a terrific job the past few weeks.. over 2 million has been raised from his fans and what alot of freepers don't know is that howard is very patriotic (as is robin). he also bemoans the feminization of the american male.
To: raybob
sorry i duplicated almost everything you said. el charro in the village has better spanish food.
To: HeartOfDixie
I've always liked his music. Once he urniated on the Alamo but I think he was stoned.
This is the same guy who snorted ants like they were a line of coke so being stoned while pissing on the alamo would be a given :).
