The Russians I know - except for some chicken university studenty - are solidly behind smashing the terrorists. A few starpery (old farts) shake their heads and say that the bombing won't help, that the resulting partizanskaya voyna (guerilla warfare) will be awful. I have to remind them that they weren't only fighting the Afghani twenty years ago, but a 3-5 billion dollar CIA black op.

What I think Moscow mostly fears is that the US will show them up, just as we showed their weapons to be critically inferior during the Gulf War.

Rodina, yuri, etc, go ahead and bury me with pretty Berkut pictures, but I just toured Murmansk and Sevastopol. Years ago I made it to Kronstat and Kamchatka. Four salvage yards are all that remains of the world's 2nd most powerful navy. I doubt the air forces and army are in much better shape.

National pride makes Ivan grumble sometimes. Pay no attention.

I hope we do it again should we ever cross the warpath of China (or those the Russians and she supply).

We should make Russia our partner in the war against islamic terrorism

And please note Struw's comment on how -- during the Gulf War with the nationa of Iraq (primary target of blame for the terrorism at present) -- we proved THE RUSSIANS' weapons inferior.

Think about it.

Hey ... I gotta an idea ... let's cut Russia in on the deal since their buddies the Chicoms are muscling them out of time-honored weapons market niches!

That arms delivery coincided with the visit to Cuba in late December by China´s military chief of staff, Gen. Fu Quanyou. Gen. Fu signed a military cooperation agreement with Havana aimed at modernizing Cuba´s outdated Russian weapons.

China Secretly Shipping Cuba Arms

AMERICA will try to win Russian support for abandoning the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty by offering to buy its missiles and hold joint military exercises. ...

Akh, Kisya. If you ever make it back to the Ukraine, I am going to buy you a huge bottle of Crimean champagne, and taranka.

Since we will probably lose over $200 billion in property damage, life insurance, rescue efforts, rebuilding, etc., I sure hope we're going to make billions off the war!

This has to be the most pitifully ignorant thing I have ever read.

If the fates are with me, we'll drink to Spring and I'll get a photo or two less formal than the one of you I snapped in Moscow.

(It's true I owe my beloved Bulgakov a visit and so, on point of honor, must return.)
