Boy, does this country need more people like Washington now.

Hey - I could be more like Washington by incorporating his principles into my life.

These principles also appear to be condensed from and inspired by the writings of St. Paul. Not a bad guy to follow, either.

Bump and spread to friends.

Difficult to second source, but I did find it at other sites. Is there a definitive reference source for this? It's great - thanks.

Get the Library Of America collected one volume edition of George Washington's Writings . Its well worth the $35 and there are other volumes of the works of America's Founding Fathers and Abraham Lincoln.

Act at all times as in the presence of God, and make it the great object in all things to please Him.

Great statement by Mr. Washington. Just shows how much knowledge and wisdom this man possessed.

A lot of very good advice. Mostly it boils down to do unto others (including animals and other creatures) as you would have them do unto you. Be authentic. Nothing worse than someone trying to be kind to others (including animals and other creatures) purely from an intellectual point of view (knowing abstractly that it's the right thing to do). It's so much better to have your heart in the right place and to actually want to do unto others as you would have them do unto you. To really feel it as opposed to intellectually knowing that that's what you should do.

Wow, it sure sounds like these Founding Father guys were really non-religious like the Democrats say all the time. Sarcasm.
