Civil Disobedience, that is part of the solution.

In effect, these new laws will shut down talk radio, and the Free Republic, unless we want to talk about the weather, or how nice the grass looks today.

He is right this is not tinfoil stuff this country is quickly becoming the Soviet Union before our very eyes maybe SCOTUS will strike down that part of the bill but I am very cynical. Russia looks promising... 17 posted on 3/23/02 1:26 PM Pacific by weike

Feeling a little scared yet? I am profoundly cynical. Everything we've hoped for is being left behind as we are being led by our noses into the New World Order.

The Salon Bolsheviki is more than willing to risk other people's lives, liberty, happiness, and property for their cause.

Hello fellow Patriot. Can you believe what we are facing today in this, our very own nation? In decades past, no one would ever believe that we would trample the First, or dissolve our borders. You have more experience than I. How does this all make you feel? Im very concerned about our future, and our sovereignty.

It makes me feel very concerened.
Personally I am still waiting for the Supreme Court to rule that the Brady Bill violates the 2nd amendment.

But why would anyone spend hard money for an issue ad? That would be going against the wishes of the donor, who gave the money for a candidate, and wouldn't make sense financially either.

Jim, the WOD and Second Amendment threads constantly have posters explaining how they are ignoring unconstitutional laws. Those threads don't seem to worry people. How come?

What makes me really scared that it will be upheld is Ken Starr is the lead attorney challenging it surely they could find a better real lawyer...

Ken Star has an almost 100% success rate in front of the Supreme Court. During Impeachment the court sided with him 15 out of 16 times. Arguing before the Supreme Court is a whole lot different than the role of prosecutor in which Starr was poorly cast.

There's one thing that everyone seems to be forgetting. WE THE PEOPLE are responsible for defending our constitutional rights. It is up to US to elect politicians who would uphold those rights. WE are to blame for this mess. This is just one small chink in the armor of our constitution. Many more will follow if we don't take a stand now!

We are treating politicians as if they are our rulers - instead of our servants. As far as I'm concerned, every rat that voted for this should be ousted immediately!

...preventing any citizen's groups who cared about the issues from running ads that name and either praise or criticize any candidates running...

Just amazing.

Good work. Do we want to win the shouting match or do we want to win the war? This court has a very good history on 1st amendment cases and the will finally put a stake in the heart of the issue ad bans. Mitch McConnel has picked, in Ken Starr, an advocate that has almost 100% success in front of the USSC. A presidential veto will do nothing to stop a future congress and presidents eventually enacting this bill. When you have organizations that span the political spectrum from the ACLU to the NRA in opposition to this issue, the 1st amendment violation is not even in doubt.
