Not only is the smell of cigarettes atrocious to nonsmokers, causing red eyes and sore throats, but also second-hand smoke has been established as a cause of lung cancer in nonsmokers.

Psychosomatics rule!!
And soon the world. Don't know what's worse, these losers or the Muslims.

First of all he is confusing the odor of cigarettes with the smoke. Even a good middle school science student knows the difference.

Finally, if second hand smoke has been "established" as a cause of lung cancer in non-smokers, it will come as a surprise to WHO, of the U.N., which completed the biggest scientific study to date a couple of years ago and quietly shelved it because they found... no supporting real evidence.

Isn't it wonderful how certain (and wrong) controlling sick twits can be and not even be aware of their ignorance?

I just wish I didn't have to pay for it

You're not.
But if it makes you feel superior and special to believe it, go for it.
Were you a late betwetter too?

Assuming this is true (which I doubt), this means that natural selection is telling this person that they're unfit and should not breed.

You'd think the fact that the mere sight of an unlit cigarette gives him a sore throat and red eyes would give him a clue.

I'm not kidding; I cause (he he he he) canniption and hissy fits walking through department stores and restaurants with an unlit cigarette in my mouth.

I'll be willing to bet that Casey Leonetti is the type of jerk*ff that wears enough disgusting smelling cologne or aftershave to float a battleship. You know, the type that you can see odor waves floating off of them. And he (or she) thinks they are irresistably attractive (maybe to fellow skunks).

I just had to wriet this blowhard a letter. Here it is.

Mr. Leonetti,
I have just a few comments and questions for you.

1. "also second-hand smoke has been established as a cause of lung cancer in nonsmokers."
Where do you get the information that you base this on?

2. "Second-hand smoke kills 53,000 nonsmokers in the United States each year,"
Where did this information come from?

3. "Children in particular are susceptible to asthma induction and exacerbation, bronchitis and pneumonia,middle-ear infection and chronic respiratory symptoms that all result from exposure to second-hand smoke, according to published studies."
What studies are these?

4."These crowded sidewalks are confined environments surrounded by tall buildings that are no different from the insides of office buildings and airplanes. The cigarette smoke has no place to escape"
Do you not understand the difference between inside a building and outside a building? Also, the anti-smokers drove the smokers out of the buildings. What do they expect?

5. "Additionally, citations given out to enforce new laws would bring added revenue to the local government"
Now we come down to the point. Money.

.

I'll let you know if I receive a reply.

"...Second-hand smoke kills 53,000 nonsmokers in the United States each year..."

Egad, Max, I thought this was a joke at first! This CASEY C. LEONETTI should contact Henry Waxman immediately! Henry spent years and untold tax dollars documenting the deaths caused by second-hand-smoke!

Henry is THE EXPERT on SECOND-HAND-SMOKE DEATHS!!!Hennys' problem was, that after eight years of expensive study, he couldn't find a single death that was caused by second-hand smoke.

At least Henny admitted that he was wrong. This LEONETTI-COMMUNIST-SOCIALIST-FACIST-NAZI-BASTARD is still on the loose, and I promise that I'll blow his stupid brains out-of-his-head if I ever see him - stupid-wop-democRAT!!

Stay well and vigilant, Max........FRegards

Hey, lighten up.
If they belong to the brainless persuasion they get to make stuff up.

All spoiled brats who think they're the center of the universe get to do that.

Very true. I don't remember very many kids with asthma when I was in school. And this was when when most parents I knew smoked, in their homes, kids around. I went to pick up my Alex's little sis from school the other day. I was talking to her teacher and she said 8 kids in class had asthma. 8 out of 22. And we are in California, where they have made it almost a mrtal sin to smoke within 6 miles of anyone.

Nobody is going to believe this, but smoking cigarettes was a treatment for asthma, way back when, because one thing it does do is decrease the immune response to allergens of the bronchials.

And there seems to be a benefit against Alzheimer's with smokers...IIRC, Parkinson's as well.

I'd believe that. I heard they use to recommend smoking for sore throats too.

"Additionally, citations given out to enforce new laws would bring added revenue to the local government"

This statement is the only truth in the entire article.

More evidence that public education needs to be destroyed, it's only effect is to create brain dead robots for the state.

That was before the drug companies and medical profession invented it to make a market for their wares. You know "create a need and then provide the service(cure).

Don't forget the new tax to hire all the added enforcement officers, building permits to add smoking areas to bars, restaurants, etc.

True enough, Case. Just hold your breath for about five minutes and I guarantee you'll never have to breathe second-hand smoke again.
